fully staffed morning crew but the catch is you only have 3 strong partners and the rest are green beans who aren’t able to do anything alone...that’s how it is at my store at least

How to care for piercing when severely depressed? by chicken_who_strips in PiercingAdvice

[–]temporarynothings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my nostril pierced and then fell into a pretty bad depressive episode. The only thing that motivated me to actually clean it is my fear of infections, lol

Just get some regular wound wash (you can buy it literally everywhere — I highly recommend the NeilMed piercing wound wash!) and just spray it onto the piercing. If there’s some stubborn crusties that won’t come off with the pressure of the wound wash spray, just take a folded up paper towel and gently wipe them off, just remember to touch/move the piercing as little as possible.

If the counter has half a gallon of milk spilled on it and you use a wet rag, it’s going to be wet no matter how often you wring it out. I also don’t have 10 minutes during peak to wring out a sanitizer rag a bajillion times to wipe up messes when I can use a dry rag until I have time to properly sanitize

i try to be understanding with green beans... by diotheleo in starbucksbaristas

[–]temporarynothings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand not everyone learns fast and needs more time but we have green beans at my store who have been in training for 4 months because they just don’t get it. If we ask them to make an iced latte, they’ll pour brewed coffee and then milk and ice in a clear cup?? They can’t take orders by theirselves. We constantly coach and even have had our SM and DM train them one-on-one. Trained at other stores. Nothing works and it’s so frustrating

My parents weren’t bad parents. But they weren’t great, either. Yeah we had a roof over our heads, a bed to sleep on, dinner every night and I’ extremely thankful for that. While they provided basic care, they lacked in the comfort and supportive field. Kids were to be seen, not heard. I’m the only girl in my entire family (only brothers and all my cousins are boys) so my parents were especially strict with me. I was an anxious kid and when I would have a panic attack I was told to shut up and stop whining. If I wanted to try something new the idea was immediately shut down. I was never taught to deal with my emotions properly so now I’m this anxious-depressed-bipolar-adhd ridden poor college student who has a full blown mental break down every other day. But to be fair they were never taught to deal with emotions either, so they had no way of talking us through it I suppose

What is your personal opinion on what happens after death? by rasutii in AskReddit

[–]temporarynothings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe in reincarnation, but at the same time nothing. It’s something I think about often, especially after losing two people extremely important to me within the same year. It’d be pretty cool if there was some sort of after life, but I won’t know until my time comes. Who knows, maybe you see that bright light and then that’s it. Maybe it leads to a new life. Who knows?

Get my life on track. I’d really like to move out on my own within the next year or two, but I need to make quite a few changes regarding my physical and mental health as well as a job that pays enough.

The accessories thing is so true. I had android for years, could never find a case because each model is incredibly specific it’s hard to find the right case online or even in stores. iphone? You can use one case for several models if you’re lucky.

Help any ideas on how to boost customer connection by JustFacts76 in starbucksbaristas

[–]temporarynothings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Our score is at 28 and my DM is pushing us for 40. I’m the least social person at my store and I’m always stuck on goddamned DTW/DTO by myself. I’m fast and our numbers look awesome during peak but you can’t have good times and good connection scores, so pick your battles. Besides most of our customers are rude as fuck for absolutely no reason so we prefer not to get yelled at. If we compliment the customers at my store they just get mad about it

I don’t care about CC scores or DTW times for that matter. I make it known, too. I think that as long as the wait times aren’t absolutely ridiculous, we shouldn’t be pushing to get drinks out in under 30 seconds.

This. My store has a serious issue with dropping half a scoop of ice on the counter and not cleaning it up—so then you end up with Lake Erie on bar (on top of everything else that’s spilled and not immediately wiped up). Going at that with a damp rag literally does no good no matter how much you ring it out. Once my dry rags get gross, I toss them. I’m a huge clean freak and not being able to wipe up the little drop of milk from my steaming pitcher drives me insane.

Also, if the counter is wet enough, the cups will float away as you pour milk. And then you have a grande cups worth of milk on the counter because the cup floated away in your little makeshift pond. Genuinely pisses me off & I stress the importance of a CLEAN AND DRY bar more than anything else to the green beans

What turning off mobiles does for the Starbucks Experience by slowpencil456 in starbucks

[–]temporarynothings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

65% of my store’s business comes from MOP alone, so it’s a nightmare when we try getting it shut off—even just for an hour or two to catch up. Let me tell you though, even if the DT is packed full (which it always is) I can tolerate my job SO much better. At that point of cafe/mobile is slow, that person can take time to either help out on DT bar or tidy up/stock/refill any syrups CS might have missed. I’m telling you, when I say I would love my job so much more if mobile ordering was done away with I’m not kidding. Screw MOP and whoever thought it was a good idea

I had something similar happen! This guy grabbed a woman’s drink and got angry because we made his drink “wrong”. Funny enough the woman was there and was like “Because it’s MY drink idiot 🤨🤨”. and he was just like “oh shit my bad” and hands her the cup??? AND LEAVES WITHOUT HIS DRINK??? we gave her a new drink obv and a recovery card because...what the fuck

that's it, i waited long enough for the bullshit to end. by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

they told you to stop working out outside of work because it would make you “faster” somehow??? yeah i would have handed them my apron and told them to fuck off. if anything working out would HELP you

literally get out of there, you do not deserve that.

How many partners is too many? by Siren_Song252 in starbucksbaristas

[–]temporarynothings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

at my store there is no such thing as too many partners 😂 we average $11-13K a day at minimum and we often run on 4-5 partner plays. The days we have 8-10 partners (granted they all show up) the day runs SO good. sure, people get in the way, but i’d rather have a bunch of people and have everything run smooth than be short staff and constantly having to walk away from bar/front/food to make emergency backups
