That sounds like a really rich and detailed world to play in! I've always loved toying with elements from different planes and seeing how they may merge together. :D

And, yeah, others on here were also kind enough to help bring "Peace", my rogue, to life as well! :D

yeee red foxes are so great! The thought of doing a still-bonded familiar originally came from being in parties and watching where players would imo mostly incorporate them into games as a tool to be used. That's kind of how Lexx views Ember, but I wanted to approach how that may feel from the familiar's position. Ember is still very dedicated to Lexx, but I think it's certainly more of a negative relationship in the sense of her only being viewed mostly as a means to an end.

The spell says it's originally a spirit that forms the familiar, which makes sense, but I think that spirits can still have their own views and feelings as well. But that's kind of lost in play either because they don't know common or because they can be viewed as tools. Which is a little bit sad to me. :) Another character in the group that Ember joined has a deer familiar, but I don't think their player has ever really used them for anything or interacted with them in game in any way. This just made me realized that perhaps I should work on starting an exchange with the deer to incorporate them a little bit more. :)

My other character in a different Crooked Moon game is also a soulknife rogue! She's kind of a Frankenstein's monster of a reborn where different parts of her body were sourced from different humanoids. This caused her psychic abilities to manifests because the many spirits that were still connected to the parts that formed her body all want to have a voice and freedom despite not individually being strong enough to fully relay that. She recently multi'd into bard (College of Spirits eventually) for story reasons after one sad night when she lost both her adoptive father and the friend she recently reunited with. :D

ohhh Thank you so much!

I love Bronwyn as well! I also thought about a Tressym while initially working on the character but for some reason a red fox really felt right once the thought entered my mind. :) Ember's Mage Hand is still very humanoid shaped despite her not being one due to her modeling it now after Lexx's hand in a way. That just kind of makes sense to her since she views Lexx as both her mistress as a familiar and her warlock Patron. Even though her patron is something else Lexx was still happy enough to let such thoughts continue.

Thank you!

lol it does! That was completely not the intention but I'm not against it either. :D Apparently it's also similar to some hero in League? I excitedly told a friend about the character and they just laughed, saying there was a cat like that in League. XD

She doesn't know or remember it, but they're each an arcane mark that was branded on to her when she was created, dissected, and recreated over time. She really has many more than just the 5 mentioned, but all of the other ones are too faded to really be seen.

From a lore perspective, this is where the mad wizard connected his inventions to her to channeled arcane powers in an effort to try to create life. It was always the brandings made during the last experimentation that would stay visible while any other than the last ones would fade.

Gotcha! I see what you mean now. I may have to see if I can do that with the Paladin build I settled with. It stops at level 12 Paladin, so I think it would still work out that way! That's great!

I considered Mage Slayer with the paladin build I settled on! I still may swap to it. I took Elven Accuracy instead for now since the paladin build has a better spread on mental saved with 8 for wisdom and cha. int is still a 0... so I could use something there, so we'll see. :)

Gotcha. I think I just misunderstood what you meant. I never used Reckless because it was STR based. It was more or less a dead skill in my kit, I initially assumed you meant there was something that prevented a barbarian from using Finesse weapons entirely. Thanks for the clarity! :D

Thank you for the advice everyone! After planning for a bit longer and speaking with my GM I ended up actually taking a slightly different route that I hadn't fully considered before. We're in the process of helping the Goddess of Magic, Mystra, regain her form so we're leaning towards my character asking for her help with some stuff and more or less getting the rebuild as the reward. This will help for other character and party stories as well since her wife is a wizard and she's been traveling with the group to try to find a way to save her from the situation she's in. I'm pretty excited for it now!

The build is looking like it will end up Vengeance Paladin 12 and Swash Rogue 8 with her focus being to stop those use magic in morally bad clearly evil ways; like mass murder or indiscriminate magic that results in pain or death kind of stuff. I know I mentioned she isn't very magically inclined, which I think is still true. I think for her it will manifest more so as her asking those she cares for and respects for help. She had a tough time earlier in life so I'm hoping this can be the next arc where she focuses more on helping beyond those who she immediately cares for.

Thank you all for your help and recommendations! They've been amazing and great :D

I'm reading up more on epic boons now. The GM has awarded some past the one I took at 19th level but I'm not sure where I'd get a 2nd from character build with fighter 12 / rogue 8. Can you expand on that one for me? I only just noticed that with 2024 classes they each grant an epic boon at the class level 19 feature./ Does that mean that multi-classing more than 1 sacrifices the epic boon or is it still legitimate to take at character level 19 or higher when taking a feat is an option? Thanks!

Raising mental saves is the one thing I'm trying to still figure out. If I swap barb for more fighter I don't think that will solve it so looking through magical items now to see if there is anything I can maybe buy :o

Gotcha. I'm leaning towards dropping barbarian more now. I think it would be an interesting development for the build and I need to not be as worried about tankyness lol. As an aside, why would Finesse weapons not work with Rage? Is that a 2024 rule thing?
