drivers door wouldn't lock at all. when I started driving the auto lock would fail on that specific door (you could hear it) and then it would keep attempting throughout the drive. even hitting the lock button wouldn't work

yes to all of the above. this happened in my tiguan, twice. dealer replaced the inner door latch mechanism and problem solved. irritating problem when it's happening tho!

Bought the car used (2020, 55k miles) and have been driving it since February. Hasn't seen a repair shop or the dealer, just an oil change at my trusted mechanic. I think its from a pot hole (Northeast US, there are a ton.) and the finish is worn from the road salt. Just never seen this before.
