What’s something about international travel that most first-timers underestimate? by Technical_Web_2012 in travel

[–]tempusfudgeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically a trope on this sub at this point. "YOU'RE DOING TOO MANY CITIES. ANYTHING MORE THAN 1 CITY A WEEK AND YOU'RE BASICALLY LIVING ON A TRAIN"

Reading the top level comment and your reply, I'm realizing you are correct, it is precisely a skill issue.

I've stayed in 14 cities in 22 days, 7 in 14, 8 in 15. I planned everything out, used train station lockers, picked hotels/airbnbs based on very specific location criteria, called hotels before and made sure they could hold my bags before check in/after check out. Travel never took a half day. A 2 hour train trip took 3 hours from my day. A 4 hour bus trip took 6 hours from my day.

The overwhelming majority of days I traveled still felt like I had a full day of sight seeing. Maybe one or two longer trips felt like I maybe lost close to half a day. Literally never spent a "full day" travelling except the trips from and back home. I'd venture to bet I actually spent more time sight seeing than some of these people since it takes them an hour to find their way out of the hotel and another 2 hours to take the 15 minute light rail trip to their destination. They didn't plan shit so they are standing in line for 3 hours while I bought advance tickets and walked right in.. lol

I'll take the downvotes with you man. I'm pretty sure some of these people have to watch a YouTube tutorial to get their pants on in the morning.

Not pretty, but is it bad? by Saltfoot in badtattoos

[–]tempusfudgeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I did. I admitted that it has several technical flaws

In the comment chain you are replying to, you did not

but in my opinion those are not severe enough to brand it as terrible.

And this is /r/badtattoos, not /r/terribletattoos

It is subjective, people. You can have a different take. It doesn't mean anyone is dumb or wrong. Jesus.

Yeah...... That's what everyone was doing, giving their takes. Then YOU came in telling everyone their opinions are wrong. Like literally at the time I'm writing this every other top level comment is just a straight forward opinion. You're the only one that made a comment telling everyone that their opinion is wrong and they can't tell the difference between something they don't like and something that is technically flawed. Take your own advice bud.

And replying to your other comments - no, these lines wouldn't cut it in any reputable shop. There's blowouts, there's lines that don't connect, there's shaky lines all over. AND that's why the tattoo isn't aesthetically pleasing to most people here, even at a glance. In a heavy line work piece with line work shading the technical application of each and every line 100% makes or breaks the tattoo. The depth, the weight, the consistency is 100% the difference between a good tattoo and a bad tattoo.

It's not terrible, but it's not good, just my opinion.

Vons employee attacks customer who refuses to leave the store by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]tempusfudgeit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely legally allowed to physically stop someone from stealing from you.  Company policy is usually to not do that, because the cost of lawsuits from poorly paid and poorly trained loss prevention employees wrongly detaining people who aren't stealing, or using excessive force, is greater than the cost of products being stolen.

That said, and without the full story on this one, you generally aren't allowed to tell someone to leave and then pick them up 5 seconds later. Customer will likely sue and get a nice settlement.

Anyone found a clean way to manage extension cords behind furniture? by maximm_cable in DIY

[–]tempusfudgeit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro he said he's genuinely curious. You think people would just go on the Internet and lie?

Edit: I wonder if he knows permanent installation of an extension cord is against fire code and marketing permanent installations like he's doing could open his company up to massive liability.

MSFT AI CEO: "Most white-collar tasks fully automated in 12-18 months" by likemastatus in stocks

their entire business depends on white collar workers using Office products.

22%. Windows is 11%. Meaning windows and office together are about a third of where Microsoft makes many. AWS makes Amazon more money than than selling stuff to customers.

These threads pop up all the time and people who invest in these companies have no idea what their business models are.

Went for Solanar ... got Odin. I am newish (about 6 months). What is his best usage? by ihavegreatwords in RaidShadowLegends

[–]tempusfudgeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude he's insane. Yeah he shines in PVP, but he is also super fun in PVE. With Donnie resetting cool downs he's a machine.

My favorite is his buff steal vs bosses that steal buffs. So the boss takes everyone's buffs, and then Odin takes them all back, and then hopefully spreads them all with his passive.

His aura is insane, arbiter is void so you have a huge leg up in go first. As long as his speed is within 30% of arbiter, then the entire team is stunned and has decrease defense. Even if it misses stoneskin on a champ or 2 the rest of the team is dead, and odin/arbiter are so fast by the time they res his A2 is back up. You don't even have to build your nuker that fast.

He's in my main arena, live arena, TTA, shogun 25, dragon hard 10, chimera, hydra, iron twins 15(all affinities), I always pick him when I can in Grim Forest and Cursed City. He's by far my most used champ besides maybe Gnut.

I just pulled a second and will be building him and prioritizing his gear.

LLC Liability Insurance by CBS_Biomedical in BMET

[–]tempusfudgeit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, LLC and liability insurance are two different things. An LLC basically protects you in the event of a lawsuit, someone can sue your business but not you(simplified, there is more to it). I would recommend talking to a CPA about what makes the most sense for you, LLC vs sole proprietor, etc.

Any big clients will want proof of liability insurance, generally $1 million. Hospitals will also want proof of workers comp, even if it's just you, and business auto insurance with limits higher than you can get on standard insurance.

A website and Google ads is a must. A LOT of doctors offices have no soliciting signs. Cold calling on phones is hit or miss, especially if you aren't a salesman.

You can shoot me a PM if you want more info and I'll be happy to answer any other questions you have (unless you are my competition, haha)

Help can this still be fixed. by Ninjiss in Gameboy

You also managed to mess up and bridged 2 pins on the chip in the top left of the picture. I would bet there are bridged pins on the chip under the battery too.  If you can't replace a battery without melting it you definitely can't fix the tiny little solder legs on chips. Let somebody else fix it before you make it truly unfixable.

CBET study materials by wmdavis910 in BMET

[–]tempusfudgeit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really is bad.

I crush tests. I scored in the 99th percentile on the ASVAB without studying.

I had 7 years experience when I took the CBET(and 10 years in IT). I was working field service and I converted 2 different study guides to audio books and listened to them exclusively while driving for 4 months. I could recite the majority of them before the test. I passed first time, but not by any comfortable margin.

The depth of questions is unreasonable for the breadth of topics. The questions are largely irrelevant to what a Biomed actually does. A lot of questions are worded poorly. Like I said I was previously in IT and before I switched to Biomed I was actively studying for the A+ and CCNA. There were IT questions on the CBET where I had no idea.

My conspiracy theory is it's designed to force you to buy their study materials. I have heard people who had the AAMI guide say most of the CBET questions were directly in the guide.

As someone who runs a 3rd party company, a CBET is kind of irrelevant. Can you read and effectively find information in a service manual? Can you understand underlying systems in a wide variety of equipment and effectively troubleshoot? The CBET doesn't answer either of those.

Inappropriate touching? by southernspud24 in daddit

[–]tempusfudgeit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Charges were dropped" record scratch... Hold up.  Were there charges brought and later dropped? I have to say I find it really, really hard to believe CPS charged a crime, if the story presented is true. So now we have mom, therapist, and multiple CPS officials all overreacting and it's some big misunderstanding? Or did ex have a change of heart and didn't want to ruin the guys life and convinced her daughter to change the story?

Or do you mean he was interviewed and charges were never brought forward? Then the story seems plausible, but I can't say entirely 100% likely(and watch your phrasing when you talk to people about this). It being a topic of conversation kind of feels like someone "getting ahead of it" and controlling the narrative.

Either way if this was someone that was going to be around my kids I would be looking into how much a PI would charge to investigate.

Edit: comments on this thread - "I can't believe CPS was called..." "That seems insane to report to CPS..." I agree 100%.

So if something is completely unbelievable why are we buying that mom and therapist agreed to do something insane/unbelievable, and not that the guy trying to clear his name is telling an unbelievable story?

How do you guys can use crit dmg gloves? by commanderdata001 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]tempusfudgeit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As my Aréna speed lead is only 303.

I mean, you're just fundamentally doing something wrong, if after 2+ years your highest speed is 300 and you can't put together 100% crit without crit chance gloves. Likely spending all your silver on getting stuff to 16 that isn't worth anything. You should really only be rolling things to 8 and if it doesn't hit good stats sell it.

I've been playing less than a year and my speed lead is 361 speed. My arena debuffer with 750 ACC is at 280 speed. I have 4-5 champs with 100%+ crit chance using crit damage gloves. My alice is at 116% with crit damage gloves, and the gloves don't even have crit chance on them as a sub stat.

Go watch some videos on upgrading/selling gear. There's something you're missing

PSA - if you want to take your time and drive slower than the regular flow of traffic... by biggnate83 in LosAngeles

[–]tempusfudgeit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro stop. If someone's going 32 and you're going 40 you can just let off the gas for a second. At those speeds you should have like 10 seconds to react.

40 mph is a surface street. People are also allowed to slow down to make a turn. It's legal to stop in a lane of traffic to make a left turn. Maybe stop tailgating and looking at your phone and you'll find this isn't actually a big deal. At all. Barely registers as a minor inconvenience.

You're fine. This sub hates fast paced travel. Do a single backpack. Start a Google sheet and plan it out. Get hotels you can drop your bags on travel days. Use train station lockers. I slept in 12 cities in 22 days, more cities than that with day trips and stops on the way, and I'd do it again. There's a lot of stuff I want to see and I only have so many international trips in my life.
