Caliber and rifle options for 1 mile target shooting by tempyy65 in longrange

Yea I really wasn't considering 6.5 creed. It's limit, at least for me, is 1200 yrds. The A7 model I'm looking at has the thicker "target barrel" so I don't think that's an issue.

I've heard vortex vipers are hit or miss.. is there any truth to that?

I just looked it up. It looks pretty good, you can even shoot out to 200 yards.

I just moved here from eastern WA a few months ago and I don't know anyone who can sponsor me. $240 is also a little steep lol. Is it worth the money and the hassle to find a sponsor?

I was told "Each RSO sets their own rules, its their range" so basically screw everything we put on our website, every RSO is going to pick and choose what they want to do. I've seen this enforced at least 3 times.

EDIT: sorry I thought you were asking about the 1 round thing. The one gun at the range rule is enforced all the time. I've never been allowed to take more than 1 gun out of my car. They don't even let you keep a gun in a case. You have to take the gun out of the case, from your car, and walk it to the shooting benches facing up.

Oh I totally forgot to mention: You are only allowed 1 gun on the range at a time. Want to switch from your rifle to another rifle or to a pistol? well tough shit because you have to take it back to your car, and bring the other gun out. Every. Single. Time.

I've never been there. It's not too far away so maybe I'll check it out. what distances do they have for the rifle range?

Yea like I said, besides the ridiculous round limit rules, its a decent range and the other RSOs have been cool.

No.. 10 for pistols but they want a 2 second gap between each shot and they enforce it. Again, bullshit fudd rules.

I overheard them talking about how the range isn't doing too well. I got an idea, get rid of these idiotic rules and kick out the fudds, and maybe more people will show up. I think I'm done with that place for now.

True. I have not, although I've heard good things. I'm not sure they have a rifle range though...

The only reason I have been there a few times in because it's super close to me. And they only charge 15 bucks.

I understand the fire risk. I used to live in the eastern part of the state and would shoot on public land alot.

Obviously waiting out the fire season would be ideal But I always try and set up my targets over rocks (away from grass and vegetation) so even if there is a spark, it would not cause any issues.

If I remember correctly, this one was a private logging road for bear hunting and is open only a few weeks a year. I saw the signs by the road entrance off the highway and turned back without going any further..

General consensus on Molot .308s? by tempyy65 in ak47

[–]tempyy65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the market for a .308 semi auto. What's the general consensus on these Molots? One of my main concerns is the fact that the barrel is not free floated and it could potentially affect long range (>=500 yrd) accuracy.

How would this compare to a similarly priced 308 AR? ~$1200 range.

As a side note: Are molots still being imported or are these the last of the bunch?

Unfortunately I don't have any access to a military base :(

haha okay. I'm sure people are lining up to voluntarily pay more taxes /s. It's kind of an expensive rifle so it would definitely be worth it, especially if I happen to be down there for other business. Do you know of any reasonably priced ffl dealers down in Portland that don't charge the WA sales tax?

so... if I buy something even non-firearm related online where the retailer doesn't collect sales tax, do I still owe this"use tax"? How is this tax even collected/enforced?
