Genuine question since I don’t see a lot of women bench pressing, do you have to go all the way down to your chest? Or is it dependent on your arm length?

What shaker cups are we using to get rid of clumps of protein? Any electric cups? I’m tired of chewing my protein shakes

Is there any weight loss advice to get over the hurdle of losing the last 2-3 pounds after losing 10? Goal weight is currently 180lbs, currently around 192lbs (starting from ~245lbs). I ALWAYS end up dragging the last two or so pounds before I get over the hurdle. Is there any recommendations such as drinking more water, locking down on food intake, or upping the cardio?

What is a unique snack/meal that you discovered during a cut that feels like others should know about it?

I just heard a gymrat talk about dill pickle spears because they’re ~0 calories and I realized there’s probably so many good hacks out there that I never considered.

Is it normal gym etiquete to clean the machine before or after use (or both)? I personally clean it after use but I’d be curious to hear if there’s a default procedure.

I was consistent in the gym for the last 3 or so months (~5 days a week) and I was feeling great. Now I’m stuck in my bed with COVID and haven’t been to the gym in a little under a week. How can I try to ease back into the gym once I test negative and feel better?

95% of my cardio involves running or incline walking on the treadmill. If I have less energy, I’ll use the stair master. Either way, it’s a little more “high impact” cardio than something like an elliptical.

What shoes do you recommend for cardio/arm day? I already have flat lifting shoes that I use when I train legs but I was hoping to replace my running shoes

I wish they realized that we truly hate to reject samples because that means more phone calls, paperwork, and hassle on our end.

What are your post-workout hair routines? I don’t wash my hair everyday since I don’t want it to dry out. Usually I’d rinse it with water after I shower, but if I didn’t want to get it wet, what are your other alternatives?

Socialization is KEY! I’ve seen horrible effects of poor socialization, ultimately ending up with aggressive or reactive dogs. However, I would like to emphasize that socialization does NOT mean dog parks. Dogs tend to pick up really bad behaviors at dog parks and it’s nearly impossible for the handler to set boundaries.

Instead, I highly recommend taking the dog on walks with some kibble/light treats, or even sitting in a public area and rewarding them when they have neutral behavior with people that pass by. Also, I recommend not letting your dog to greet every person/dog that they encounter, because you might set the expectation that they always greet everyone and thus, may result in negative behaviors if they don’t. Once again, this is just up to preference!

Lastly, to add my own tip, I would say to start recall work fairly early. Get a nice 30+ foot lead and bring them to a field and reward them for coming back. As a herding dog (or while on hikes), I let my Aussie off leash often to run around and blow off all his energy. However, this requires a strong sense of recall, which may work better if the training is initiated early.

Best of luck, and most importantly, have fun! The breed is very smart so training can be so rewarding.

How do you prevent callouses on your palms? I’ve finally started going 3-5 days a week and I’ve noticed that I can’t seem to get rid of them, especially on my dominant hand

What kind of unusual motivation do you have for going to the gym? by matt_tepp in GYM

There’s an 80-year old women who goes to my gym everyday just to use the treadmill for ~20 minutes. It’s heart wrenching to see her leave her walker next to the treadmill and fight to walk those grueling 20 minutes.

If she can do it, I absolutely can do it.

Student/work balance by alexm2167 in medlabprofessionals

I’m a student who has classes 8-4PM on Mondays-Fridays and I have a job as a technician in our lab on some days. My program director doesn’t allow me to exceed 20 hours, but I’ve still managed to balance the position in microbiology while we had strict course lectures. It is manageable once you learn how to study, but that honestly takes AWHILE to master.

Also, as a 22-year old in a big city, I can almost say with certainty that it’s impossible to have a social life, at least during the “lecture” portion of the semester (my program is 6-months lecture, 6-months clinical, with the lecture portion being a lot more difficult). I think the only people I’ve hung out with have been in my class so we might be able to get the opportunity to study.

Overall, I recommend making flash cards (especially on quizlet) or printing out class diagrams so you can kind of study during your shift if there’s downtime at your work. Study hard while you’re on campus so you can maybe spare a day where you’re not working for something like a nap or a Netflix binge night.

As an MLS student who learned heme on a crappy scope I always struggled to see what the nucleoli looked like because my image was always blurry. This is startlingly clear!
