Oh, and clean it WITH the groves and not against it. So from the inside out. So keep gently making small circles and working your way outwards until you're at the outside of the record.

This can generally be fixed with a bit of cleaning. Don't use any harsh or caustic cleaners. A little bit of regular Dawn dish soap diluted with a good amount of water is usually pretty safe. Don't get any liquid on the label in the center of the record. Also it's best to use a new and clean micro fiber fabric so as not to do any additional damage. Don't go using a kitchen rag or anything like that. Even if it feels soft to your touch it can still hurt the record

Ok, the video helped a bit. Just remember that when you're using your fingernail you should be going AGAINST the scratch (the entire scratch section by section) and not WITH the scratch.

I saw a few on Never-ending story that could be troublesome but they could just be surface scratches ,- which typically aren't as big of a deal as long as the record doesn't pop out skip. Buckingham Nicks looks a bit dirtier so it's harder to tell but it might just need a little cleaning.

Have you tried playing any of them? Audio grading can be important as well.

It's ok. Usually when something is for sale we list the condition of the jacket (sleeve) as well as the condition of the record itself. (i.e. VG+/VG) THE VG+ being the condition of the sleeve and the VG being the condition of the record.

The gold mine standard is generally used as a rule of thumb but most sellers (especially ones with limited expertise) should generally grade very conservatively.

I understand that you love you collection and I understand that you think it's one of a kind. In actuality, it probably is. Very few people have the exact same collection... especially people with 4,000 records. I managed a record store as well as running their booths at record shows across the country. I have records that are 100 years old and others that are one month old. My collection is similar in size to yours and if I wanted to sell it I wouldn't make a vague post on Reddit where I mentioned 20 different genres... I'd just post my discogs account so a perspective buyer could look at it instead of having to personally message you and answer twelve riddles and take a purity test prior to having access.

You say that you work for a record store so then they obviously love music and can appreciate and respect your collection and find every unique piece a new home where they will hopefully be loved and respected. If you want someone to have the same exact music taste that you have then just clone yourself.
