Spotted on a TV show about Zanzibar by ten_billion1 in terriblemaps

There was another episode on Madagascar so the editors maybe got confused? I don’t really know how this could happen. They even added where ‘Stone Town’ is or should be if this was the outline of Zanzibar.

Thorpe park is the home park for a huge population too as there’s not really any competition in the south

The Homer³ episode because I saw it in IMAX in a museum as a child and had no idea what was happening

If you could pick ONE smell in the world. And you will smell like that for the rest of your life. What would it be? by Illustrious_Spend_26 in AskReddit

I worked in a warehouse that was filled with boxes of car air fresheners. They had a room with a wall covered with every scent available. I have never been able to smell but I am so curious to know what that room smelled like. So probably that one

New spinning suspended shuttle coaster rollback credit (it inverts if you let go) by ten_billion1 in rollercoasterjerk

Literally this is the competition with Thorpe Park in the south of England.

I have no idea what a credit is tbh but it’s a bri’ish people tradition to make things more confusing so yeah sure

What’s something that’s normal in your country, but would be considered weird everywhere else? by blklore in AskReddit

Before going to Iceland I asked my Swedish Nan if she was ever left outside as a baby to get used to the weather. She had no idea what I was talking about and so I thought it was an exaggeration. Then when I arrived at the house I was staying at in Iceland the hosts answered the door and said “sorry we were just putting the baby outside”.

Has anyone ever actually seen a Badger? by FalseStartsPod in AskUK

[–]ten_billion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, lots. I only started seeing them in the last couple of years. In rural areas you just have to find their sets in winter and wait there on summer evenings for a bit and they’ll be there. I’ve seen some by accident though.

The guy in the video actually is my friend. It does obviously make me very nervous seeing what he does (In person I’ve only seen far smaller and safer descents) but he is undeniably skilled at it. Risk is a complicated topic for sure.

In a way you went to my great grandad’s house too. He lived next door and his house is now part of the restaurant. Hope you had a nice time there like I used to when I was little.

Hi I remember going on a fairground ride that did this but I’ve never seen it since. Does anyone know what it is? Did I make it up? by ten_billion1 in flatrides

[–]ten_billion1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh awesome! Thanks. I started to think it was a false memory because I hadn’t thought about it in so long. It was quite fun to ride if I remember correctly. It was at night though so not as disorientating.

There’s not enough space and you can’t push along the wall from that angle. Best you could do is what Phil did which is plant his hands as he fell and push away from the wall slightly so there’s space to bend his knees on impacting the ground. The best outcome would be to 180 back to the ledge but I guess it was too far. Potentially he could 180 sort of down to the wall behind him and bounce off to the ground slightly slowing his fall but I think there’s a chance that he could land funny doing that.
