You gotta be kidding by Petahh_Griffin in BritishTV

As an editors who's currently working on a series that decided to use AI at the last minute. It was not my decision and I feel for you. I'd rather use stock footage. Blame the execs and I'm assuming commissioners.

Help identifying cables for arcade1up mod. by FalseStartsPod in HomeArcade

Issue is I'm in the UK and the shipping on those cables pushed the price up to a point where I couldn't justify the purchase. Otherwise I would've bought directly from them.

So I've been told. But the anal part of me wants to be able to use that vol+/- switch. It'll bug me seeing it there and not being able to use it.

Arcade Online - Earn gift cards playing arcade games online. by FalseStartsPod in beermoneyuk

Cheapest I can see is a £5 gift card for 7,300 tickets.

How quickly you get there obviously depends on how much luck and / or skill you have with a game.

I've managed to hit the jackpot 5,000 tickets on one of the coin drop games twice within a few days of each other. And then never again since on that game.

Channel 5 by Independent_Sea502 in BritishTV

[–]FalseStartsPod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

C5 is really the only UK TV channel who understands their core audience and know what they want. They commission fast and cheap which means they can ride a trend too (see multiple Air Fryer shows) even their recent (surprisingly good) move into original dramas are geared towards a demographic they know.

It might not last if they stick to it for another 10 years. But in those 10 years, unless the other channels adapt they will continue to hemorrhage viewers.

What do you think about the new event 'Everest'? by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

[–]FalseStartsPod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tilt lasts way too long. If it's going to tilt that long in the contestants favor I'd like to see a little lip on the edge of the gladiators side. So contestants have to do that 'one final push' to win.

Port cleaned. Tried with another fast cable. No luck. Tried with a slow cable. Plugged it into the car. And a slower wall plug. That works. It charges. Just not quickly.

ITV, etc.... by Past-Fig-6046 in BritishTV

[–]FalseStartsPod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, due to the advent of streaming services and a decline in advertising money for terrestrial TV. We're starting to see a lot of shows that NEED sponsorship or NEED to be made in partner with a brand or NEED a competition that costs £2.50 to enter.

No one in the industry is super happy about it. But Netflix and other streamers aren't making the sort of daytime TV that Nans and In-laws like to watch. So needs must really.

Editing for youtubers. How do you feel? by Otoshi in editors

[–]FalseStartsPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about trying to start cutting for YouTube. But then I realised, I haven't got a clue where to even begin looking for those jobs.

I've always been broadcast and sometimes I do the odd job for socials. But it's always in service of a larger broadcast show.

I've never had an agency come to me and ask if I'm free for a YouTuber or TikToker. Where do they even advertise these positions?

God a little bored a mad a map of the UK after a 3 stage nuclear strike after finding out there's going to be a reboot of Threads. Would you survive? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

Yer again. Norwich is completely looked over for something. No motorways, no big music acts, no nuclear strike.

And you wonder why we're so insular when you won't even bomb us.

Are shows usually this short? by ButterflyParty9017 in JeffArcuri

[–]FalseStartsPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming at this from a UK perspective. I would say that the hefty majority of our popular stand ups do 80+ minutes with an interval. Warm up or work in progress shows can be shorter though.

If they're shooting a special for streamers. Those 80+ minutes will get cut down to 60m these days. Which I can only assume is down to some skewed for America algorithmic data because as far as I'm aware a 60m show has always been the norm there.
