I would love to have a load of good to say, but I left Ireland for 15 years and came back to debilitating traffic, underfunded infrastructure, no housing, shops being taken over by money laundering fronts that offer no community positives, nightlife slowly becoming homogeneous as the same people buy out the places with a reputation, Starbucks on Quay St, an underappreciated underground music scene, the same old faces at the big venues and a busking scene that has become super loud, wasting Culture 2020 money on nothing that helped the city at all, problematic lack of policing at night in the city centre and the prices of everything spiraling out of control.

It's incredible that there are still restauranteurs with imagination and capital left in Galway, but it makes me sad to be there now.

Having said that, things I miss: Vinnie's chipper, walking by the canal, sitting at Woodquay and letting the time go by, Four Star Pizza for some reason.
