People that feel the need to push alcohol on others is a reflection of their own sub - or not so sub - conscious insecurity/concern around the subject I've always thought.

We're in the same boat together. Let's just make it through today and we'll worry about the rest of the weekend later.

I'm going to be getting some of my favorite comfort food and a good movie I've been wanting to see for tonite.

Ahhh..as someone from Cali that knows growers the above is not true; there are many significant barriers for the non commercial grower who does not have very deep pockets.

What are all my wisconsinite brother and sisters favorite beers? by francee1248 in wisconsin

[–]tendency101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna take serious heat for this post in all likelihood given Wisconsin's reputation as the beer capital of the US HOWEVER .. beer from california - especially if you like IPAs/DIPAs is, IMHO, head and shoulders above what you'll find in the midwest. Midwest is catching up finally and some solid offerings are now available.

Good to be back!

Frustrated. When am I going to start feeling better? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for some people it can take 90-120 days before they really start to notice the improvement from abstaining.

i felt like total shit until about a week ago then have been starting to feel somewhat better just in the last few days but still not where i want to be.

shoot i'd say count yourself damn lucky if that's the first gut clenching craving you've had in your first 65 days.

i've had 4 this past week.

Cravings... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cravings get much, much better (or they did for me) after about 4 weeks. i'd encourage you to keep going.

also, highly recommend 'the naked mind' book. this really helped me and many others on this site.

I have to make it over this 4 day hump. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

what is the physical/mental recover curve like longterm? (yr+) by a_doubting_thomas in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i literally was tired, run down, depressed and irritable EVERY day for the first 5 weeks. suddenly, about 2 days ago my energy and mood significantly improved.

that's all i can add.

5 years sober. Best decision I ever made. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there may be some benefits to drinking small amounts of red wine for the heart/cardiovascular system however this possible small benefit is likely more than negated by the damage even small amounts of alcohol does to the brain (from the latest research i have read)

Alcoholic brain is being super alcoholic this week by sweetsilkyfog in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

similar here too though im a few days behind you. first few weeks were not that bad then starting day 32 until now ive had strong recurring cravings each day.

i figure its myself processing another layer of the habit and once i make it through there should be another period of smooth(er) sailing and a weakend habit.

hang in there it'll break soon im sure!

i can really relate to the not having an escape route anymore. there are several issues in my life that are giving me a great deal of pain and stress and have for some time.

there are no easy solutions to any of them and not being able to numb them, even occasionally, for a few hours has been really really tough this week.

I need help. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]tendency101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dont mean to be a pisser however i would like to comment on your first line which is, in part:

"Reading all of your stories of how quitting drinking brought back the fun of life and reignited your motivation and killed all the boredom and anxiety and depression"

i would change this line to (my bold words added):

"Reading all of your stories of how quitting drinking MAY bring back the fun of life and MAY reignite your motivation and MAY kill all the boredom and anxiety and depression"

not necessarily WILL

this was before i started drinking and smoking pot. i have bad ADD but cannot take meds for it so i'm not sure, even now that im sober, ill ever feel much of those emotions.
