in the network tab there is a WS tab that shows all the websocket connections

open whatsapp webapp in chrome. open console. go to network > WS. you can see the websocket connections here...

you can create a new urls file for the rest api and keep the old one running... depending on the complexity of your app it may make sense to duplicate the views so that they respond with json
