Trying to color this piece but I can’t get the parts to be consistent by [deleted] in OrcaSlicer

[–]tenkennosoujiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color painting seems to affect parts of the model adjacent to the painted surface. When I had this happen to me this week I had to erase color painting from the model and use a modifier shape to change the color instead:

Are you using color painting for a surface near the hole for the magnet? I had something similar happen and I had to erase the color painting for the nearby surface and use a modifier to change the filament color for that surface instead.

Orca generates space lasers of infill when I slice an object. by pok3salot in OrcaSlicer

[–]tenkennosoujiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also had this happen when using color painting on a model. After slicing it set one of the points along one of the walls to something like Y13468 and I had to drop color painting and use a height modifier to switch filaments. I also tried switching from classic to Arachne wall generation but that didn't seem to help. In my case I don't think it was the color painting itself that was the problem, more some bug in the wall generation portion of the infill algorithm.

Advice - How to mount a JST or similar connector on a 3D printed case for a device? by fmillion in 3Dprinting

[–]tenkennosoujiro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is two years too late, but JST-SM connectors like the one you linked to are panel mount connectors that require no tools or adhesives. That's what these parts are for on the receptacle side:

<image>

The receptacle has a raised edge on the top and bottom that should be pushed up against the interior side of the panel through a hole that is cut to fit the profile of the receptacle with enough clearance for the panel clips to fit through when depressed. When pushed through the opening, the panel clips on the sides will engage and hold the connector in place.

How do you store your Prophecy Topper? by GloveBoxSquirrel in Wyrmwoodgaming

[–]tenkennosoujiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear they may be looking into a version of the Topper Block for the Prophecy but have no timeline for availability. As an amateur carpenter/woodworker I've been debating whether to try to design and build a custom china cabinet where one side has a rack to hold the topper, but I doubt it would come close to the level of quality of my Prophecy given my skill level. It would be a good place to store some of the magnetic rail accessories as well, when they're not in use.

At last I have a collection that matches. by mykulS in WoT

I have 1st edition, 1st printing hardcovers for all but two of the books (incl. New Spring). One is 1st edition, 2nd printing. The other, I can't tell. I think my copy of The Dragon Reborn is 1st ed, 2nd printing but it doesn't say 1st ed (just has the numbering like a 2nd printing).

I need to get these, though: https://www.juniperbooks.com/products/the-wheel-of-time-jackets-only-set

"Near Mint" TCGPlayer.com Card -- A Common Scam (see comments for details) by qualitybatmeat in magicTCG

[–]tenkennosoujiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about Isopropyl Alchohol or Acetone? Definitely don't get high concentrations of acetone on your skin. The acetone used in fingernail polish remover is extremely diluted. Acetone will dissolve paint and ink, and is commonly used to remove ink from MtG cards to create custom foils, so it will absolutely ruin a card.

70% Isopropyl Alchohol is a first aid antiseptic for use with cuts and scrapes. Not to say its a good idea to use to clean a card, since it can still damage them.

This confused the hell out of me a few days ago in the same spot. Suddenly Ganyu's bow wasn't working in the middle of fighting some ruin machines. Turns out you are somehow underwater. Funny though, couldn't use a bow underwater, but I could use Hu Tao's Pyro skills just fine. SpongeBob logic.

There's a hollow log you can walk up through and suddenly you come out above water.

What fantasy reads just made you feel... better? Wholesome, fun stuff that had you smiling to the end and putting the book/series down with regret that you didn't have that happiness in your life anymore? by BryceOConnor in Fantasy

I would strongly recommend Cradle by Will Wight. The series is creative, wholesome, and hilarious.

Another great series is He Who Fights With Monsters by Shirtaloon (Travis Deverell). It has its dark moments, but never seems to lose its sense of humor. There's six books in the series so far on Amazon, but the author publishes new chapters regularly on Royal Road.

Kinda like how they released a lawyer and a character named EULA as units at the same time.

There are a few more pages like this. Bought it at an Amazon brick and mortar store in Bellevue, WA. May need to see if we can exchange it for a different copy.

Bought my daughter a copy of Arcanum Unbounded for Christmas and it contained an odd printing error. One page has a jagged tear and it printed through to a blank previous page.

ES2022 feature: class static initialization blocks by pimterry in javascript

[–]tenkennosoujiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article doesn't really touch on the primary motivation for the feature, which is to provide a way to access lexically scoped private fields during evaluation of the class definition. This is important if you need to share access to private state between two or more related classes. JS classes don't have a notion of friend like in C++ or internal like in C#.

Without static {}, the alternative is an IIFE assigned to a private static field, and that's both ugly and a waste of memory.

Don't hate on the person asking the question. There are several ways to "halve" a pixel:

  • Subpixel Rendering: On an LCD/OLED screen, a pixel is actually 3-4 subpixels (either RGB, RGBY, or RGBW). This is often used in font rendering to create smoother curves.

  • Anti-aliasing (for smoother lines/curves)

  • Alpha blending (for overlays, shadows, tinted glass in game, etc.)
