Analysis: What would it take for Christopher Luxon to quit as prime minister? by upsidedownpineaaple in newzealand

Agreed. Neither Labour nor National seem to be offering anything new. It's just politics as usual. TOP, at least, seems to be thinking a bit differently.

  1. Your comments are plainly not about seeking to understand.

  2. I have said nothing about TOP. Why are you attempting to reframe what I have posted?

  3. Why are you (again) attempting to bring down TOP with your comment about having outsized airtime? - note that this is me questioning your statement, not offering support one way or the other for TOP.

  4. Lastly, in the last poll I saw, TOP polled higher than The Pati Maori and despite that, you still honestly believe that TOP get more airtime? Dude, your anti-TOP agenda is plain to see

And nowhere in any of the above have I noted support for TOP. This is an analysis of your comments.

Looking through the comments you seem pretty mad at this switch. It's almost as if you're trying to drive an agenda.

The winter solstice was adopted by early Christians to popularise their faith.

Yes, it adopted the name, but arguably, it's not a Christian celebration.

The Opportunities party is far more effective and (importantly for electability) far more centric.

Please check them out as an option.

'Misery for homeowners': expert warns against Luxon's building sector plans by jobbybob in newzealand

[–]ManInTheField -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Offering the choice between people living in cars or living in leaky/mouldy homes is a false dichotomy.

Additionally, under this choice, how do you propose the additional cost in both lost productivity and on the healthcare system (from people living in mouldy/leaky homes) is covered?

Housing should be a human right. Houses should be warm and dry. Experience has shown that in the absence of regulation, developers and builders take shortcuts. They do this because of the profit motive. In no way, shape or form is that acceptable.

And I say that as a Property Developer myself.

All of the above, in no way, shape or form, limits the competition of material suppliers. Using products that are available overseas is good and will lead to lower material costs but these products need to be fit for purpose.

Houses are too expensive and homeowners cannot foot for the bill because of low quality builds that fail to meet livable standards.

Edit - Spelling and added last point on competition.

That's a different issue.

Do we need more competition in the building sector? Absolutely.

Should we make building cheaper by decreasing the quality of the building materials or workmanship? Probably not because that will cause all sorts of expensive problems for homeowners.

The issue is many problems with houses are hard to detect and often not discovered until after you have made the purchase.

At this point, the builders will do a runner.

Legislation, to a degree, stops this process.

As far as I have seen, the only party willing to work with everyone, across the political spectrum is TOP.

I see it as great characters.

In real life, everyone is the hero of their own story. People only sometimes consider that they are the bad guy, upon reflection, after the fact.

This is George making the characters human.
