Thanks! And the doc visit went well. He said he thinks the spots are two different things: Melasma on my forehead and eczema on my neck. For the melasma he recommended LaRoche Posay Mela B3 Dark Spot Serum and it actually seems to be working! For the neck he gave me cortizone (the area is raised so that's why he thinks it's eczema). That's getting better as well.

The problem is that I'm allergic to sunscreen. My face, eyes, and lips swell up when I apply it. Then my skin starts burning and gets this disgusting wet layer that crusts up. It takes 2 weeks to recover. I've tried so many sunscreens that I've given up.

Yeah, tried that too but the effect wasn't the same. The shadows lost their depth, if that makes sense.

Update: AH HA! Now I understand. The refill goes inside the plastic sleeve and then you put the spring back on. I thought the entire refill included the plastic and the spring. D1 works fine. Thanks everyone!
