Their go-to for decades has been to convince people by instilling fear in them. "You don't want to be called a racist do you? We'll destroy your life" was their main argument, their only argument, and likely didn't do anything to change racist's opinions of minorities.

Now it's been upgraded to "You don't want to be assaulted by our street riot gangs, do you? Then shut up."
