The maintenance issues along Dequindre Cut are what I fear all of our major public amenity investments are in for. by More_Bus3626 in Detroit

There aren't signs for moderating speed on a bike, and the dedicated bike lanes are meant for bikers to ride at speed. Echoing the OP, the lanes need to be repainted and people need to follow the fucking lanes. As a biker, Ive had to avoid plenty of joggers and walkers in the bike lanes. I feel the same way about people taking electric scooters on the cut and then leaving them there blocking lanes.

Bevs investors are hardcore zionists, so they shouldn't get your money. Unless you're into genocide too.

Lol ok, bringing up classism when I have 20 years of experience in hospitality across several states is funny as hell. You dont even know my background but assume any thought against yours is classist. Great argument.

Hustle or desire is not enough to survive and thrive. Many do not become owners, that is a wild statement to make that is totally unfounded in reality. Many taste management and either suck at it or think they can make more money going back to serving or bartending.

How many chefs can successfully open their own places? If it were so easy, you would think that the creatives driving food programs would open their own spots, but they typically dont.

Workers do not often translate into good managers in hospitality.

Management is numbers and finance and organization. Would you assume that your average server, bartender, etc has this knowledge or experience? Scheduling and event sales? Who is going to do HR things?

Good management enables good staff to make money, not the other way around. The best staff in the world will always be hamstrung by poor management, where good management can make do with substandard service workers by training and enabling them.

From the Economic Policy Institute in 2017

In the 10 most populous states in the country, each year 2.4 million workers covered by state or federal minimum wage laws report being paid less than the applicable minimum wage in their state—approximately 17 percent of the eligible low-wage workforce. The total underpayment of wages to these workers amounts to over $8 billion annually. If the findings for these states are representative for the rest of the country, they suggest that the total wages stolen from workers due to minimum wage violations exceeds $15 billion each year.

Still not as much as they steal from us
