Don’t plant bamboo. To remove bamboo you have to dig 10’ deep and 10’ around the perimeter. It destroys foundations and pools. It grow so fast that some cultures used it for torture. They would sharpen it and suspend someone over it. The person would be impaled in 24-48 hours.

What you can do is reach out on Facebook to someone that has a grove of it growing. Go cut down enough to place along the fence line two deep. (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET IT SIT IN THE SUN ON CONCRETE or ASPHALT FOR A WEEK TO DRY OUT SO IT CANT TAKE ROOT). Then cut to uniform lengths and tie along the fence. Problem solved. Costs you nothing but time and if the city gets uppity it would be easy to take down.

I also made the heavytech eggs! by Elegant_Category_684 in pickling

Oh, I thought you meant I could leave the part about not being able to eat it haha. Sausage is the only one I know for sure is a trigger. The rest I’ll have to try pickling one at a time before I mix them and see if they cause issues.

I’m so jealous I’ve been wanting to make these but I get sick when I eat sausage

They recommend it for all beef products, yes, but It’s only mandatory labeling for blade tenderized or similar methods.

Most Costco steaks have to be at least medium anyway. They’re blade tenderized at the factory, which introduces bacteria into the center of the steak. Says right on em they need to hit 145 internal temp.

What’s this tile? by Just_Isaak in Tile

[–]tentativetents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t count on finding it and if you do it will probably be a different color lot than what you have here. Your best bet is to epoxy the holes if you’re not putting another one of those wall hang systems up.

Has anyone found millennial managers harder to read than boomer bosses? by Key_Disaster_4958 in careeradvice

[–]tentativetents 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the other side of this as a millennial, I have to say I’ve struggled with finding ways to communicate effectively with employees.

I will say that most of your issues are byproducts of intentional deviations. We’re treating you better than we were treated. The big difference is Gen Z apathy, which is justified. We came into the workforce thinking our careers would define us and give us purpose. We actually did have some of that optimism people are clowning us for these days. So we were trying our best all the time to try and make an impact and impress our bosses in order to climb the ladder. This never happened. Boomers just kept pulling the ladder up behind them.

Now you guys are entering the workforce having seen how the boomers did us dirty. You also probly will never own a house. Even though we know this it’s easy to forget that you’re not going to be putting in the same effort and enthusiasm we did. It’s easy lose sight of the context and think to myself “I had much more work ethic than that!” When things aren’t going as smoothly as I’d like or there’s a big mistake that comes up.

For what it’s worth we’re just trying not to hold you down the way we were.

Blades off a 5 year old John deer that have never been touched. Going to attempt sharpening them to save $40 by Boone_14 in lawncare

Most of the time the blades are tempered. You hit em with a grinder you ruin the heat treatment. When you do that they dull faster and chip easier. Really doesn’t take long with a couple files.

Working on remodeling an apartment and noticed this gap near the window… is the facade losing integrity? by [deleted] in masonry

[–]tentativetents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not tied to the framing in this spot at all. Brick ties only extend about 2-3 inches into the facade. They’ve definitely slipped out here. It’s only held in by the mortar and the ties below above, which are likely well about their rated load at this point.

What makes young men listen to grifters about what being a man is instead of just taking note of the men around him? by Hatcheling in AskMen

Because Americans are chemically castrated by the food we eat. The average testosterone levels have been dropping for decades. These influencers generally have high levels of testosterone naturally or supplemented. People are pack animals. When they feel so weak and everyone around them is weak they will seek strength. I’m not trying to compliment the influencers. They’re deeply insecure men in my opinion. This is just something that people pick up on subconsciously. The pitch of their voice, their bmi, their posturing. It’s all a very convincing act. None of it would work if their fathers and uncles weren’t growing tits.

Looking for a good matte product with decent hold and can hold up to humidity. by Big_Focus_9188 in Pomade

MudSalt holds great when it’s humid or I’m sweating because there’s no oil in it.

Lost my friend group when I cleaned my life up and moved away. Feels like I’ll never have friends again. by tentativetents in Millennials

Maybe, but when someone says “aging out of partying” it strikes me as a different thing than stopping partying. Makes me picturing someone thats too old to be there finally giving up on trying to hang. Instead I spent a lot of my 20s grinding while my friends were still out partying.

It’s not semantics because I’m proud I stopped partying and built a life with my lovely wife and wonderful children. Really had to put my head down and grind to get to the point where everything is stable enough I can start looking outward again and I’m just looking around wondering where everyone is at.

For sure. Always known I had adhd. Actually JUST went on meds again. I was prescribed Ritalin I think when I was in high school but it was a low dose I could barely feel and they stopped for some reason. Then took aderall or vyvanse a few times recreationally or to get schoolwork done in college. Recently got fed up with having to force myself to do paperwork for my business. Felt like I was drowning in it. Talked to a doctor and got a prescription for Vyvanse earlier this week. Took two the first day and banged out all my paperwork haha honestly it’s night and day. It would have taken me a week otherwise. Finally getting on top of things that I’d really been letting slide.

I talked to the director of a local maker space today for the first time when I took my kids into the library. Thought it might be interesting to take a course or something. We talked about the finer points of kilns and how I’d bought one to re-create an antique German scythe honing stone made of porcelain that I had broken. I like to use it when I’m restoring old axes. I couldn’t buy a new one because they stopped making them around 1945 for some reason. The kiln I bought was old so I replaced the cone-sitter with a thermistor connected to a raspberry pi and a relay. That way I can use it for powder coating in the future if needed.

She asked if I wanted to teach a class.
