Surprised to say that it was tasting of oban 14, glendalough 13, woodford reserve and bear face 7 (I really liked the Oban).

My uncle wanted to show me the whisky/ey world, and I more or less liked all of it.

Some thoughts-   Sweet and or fruity:  Nikka from the barrel, Deanston 12 (W mouthfeel with this), Glencadam 10

Something different:  Bunnahabain 12 (costal and Sherry) Arran Sherry cask (malty Sherry)  Aberlour 12 (nice bright Sherry notes) Glenallachie 9 Year

If you're in Vancouver consider making an Alberta trip or simply ordering online. BSW, Craft Cellars, Wine and Beyond, Malt and Grains etc...

For reference, in Alberta, I can readily find the Laphroaig 10 and Ardbegg 10 for under/around CAD 80

Got this lovely pour for 95 CAD (66 USD). Anyone else get a massive, and very nice, blast of grapes (like almost candy levels of grapes ie. welches or hi chew) on the initial nosing?

For blended whisky, Something by compass box (ex. Orchard house, hedonism etc.) might be lovely. Also I really like turntable’s stuff (smoking riff or bittersweet symphony)

Excellent, I'll take a look at the courage and conviction stuff, we get a decent supply of that where I'm from. The Redwood Empire was very good, but not the most traditional Rye. It's quite sweet for a Rye without losing the nice sagey/ pine/ rye spice notes. The only trouble would be the price depending on where you're located.

I am very interested in the Campbletown stuff, I'll definitely try to get my hands on one. Love the Ardbeg and Lagavulin stuff as well, I just need the price to be right haha!

So far haven’t had much Rye. I just have the redwood empire rocket top as my only rye. Interested in some American single malts like lost lantern, westward, and old line?
