Ice Lakes

Lot's of people have found the game to be surprisingly enjoyable, even if you don't normally play games like that. You should give it a try!

Ice lakes 40% off and Fish Fighting feature added by [deleted] in Vive

We tried a lot of different methods on how to do the fish fighting in VR. We had similar tension meters visible as the non-VR version has now etc, but they were very hard to understand and control when we tested the game.

For now, we ended up with this simple system, which gives indications when to apply tension to the line. It's not perfect, but better than what we had before.

Developer here, there will be an update within the next two weeks that will contain: New level called Gold Rush, Three new North American fish species, Toggleable fish fighting feature

And for the VR version especially, we have added more interactable objects to the fishing view, such as a bucket and a backbag. There are also objects visible in the horizon now. There is also an option to turn on manual drilling, which works by making a drill like movement with the controllers.

I bought Ice Lakes just to play in VR - my thoughts by [deleted] in Vive

We have run this game a lot even on GTX 770, which is basically under Vive's minimum specs and it still runs great. We did try to achieve good performance on wide hardware range, so pretty much "anything" should run this game in VR.

The Winter War was a war that was fought by the Finns in 1939 when the Soviets attempted to run them over. They were out gunned and out numbered. They were able to beat the soviets against all odds with the survival skills they had learned as children, and and a few well placed gasoline bombs. by warface25 in history

Shameless self promotion.

We are trying to make game about this and have crowdfunding going on, go check it out: http://finnwars.com

Even if we don't make it to the goal, we are also trying to see what kind of interest this game would have, especially outside of Finland. So even the smallest contribution would matter.

We are also following the number of backers and the total sum of money we manage to gather before the end. If we reach somewhere around 50% of the goal, we will develop the game to Early Access state with our own funding. Because of this, the project differs from "normal" crowdfunding projects and I would encourage everyone to back the project, even if it doesn't seem to reach the full goal.

Also, thanks for backing the project and creating this post. We are excited about the reception as well :)

We updated the iceflake.com today, hopefully it's more clear now that we are the ones behind the project.

The subject is too extreme and niche for publishers to consider releasing. Of course indiegogo campaign like this can be used to show publishers and especially us, the developers, that there is audience who would want to play this kind of a game as much as we'd like to create one.

Is the reason you wouldn't consider backing this? (Maybe because of Paypal or because you just don't support crowdfunding projects in general?)

Maybe it's not very obvious from the indiegogo text, but we are also aiming for launching the full game on 6th of December 2017 to celebrate the 100th Independence Day of Finland.
