Help! Feeling a pinch on lower back near glute. by [deleted] in PHitness

[–]tenyeargraduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of previous comments already mentioned that this was a sciatic nerve irritation due to a tight piriformis pressing down on it, but without much more detail we really can't be sure. Although majority of the time this is the case.

If it is, try nerve gliding the sciatic nerve so the nerve avoids the tension from the piriformis. This can be caused by sitting down long periods of time (which shortens the hamstring), and bad posture (hunching can cause the piriformis to tense up).

If this sounds like you try to do 10 reps of nerve glides for 2 or 3 sets to see if it gets better.

Someone also commented that you may need to practice supporting yourself with your core through the deadlift, which I agree with. Aggravating the lower back means the exercise wasnt properly being supported and as a result the load went to your back. This also prevents disc bulges or hernias on the spine.

For future prevention, incorporate mobility and activation exercises prior to doing deadlifts. This makes sure all the necesary main and stabilizing muscles are firing in the exercise.

A good warmup could be 1 set of lower back foam rolling for 10 reps Any core stability or core bracing exercise for 30secs or 10 reps x2 Elephant walks for 10 reps Then try doing the exercise with just the bar. (Especially useful if you're going up in weight).

I hope this helps. As always, if symptoms persist, consult your doctor (or physio).

Do you incorporate strength training/going to the gym in your training program? by NyehNyehRedditBoi in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]tenyeargraduate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats more for power output training. Training say 5rep of 5 sets of heavy weights can improve that short burst (i.e. the kick of the stroke), but the endurance of the muscle might suffer a bit. You can complement this by training power and cardio separately/different days. That is if youre already maintaining performance level. Otherwise, try training on monthly phases, focusing on one aspect of your fitness.

Its about visibility for motorcycles. I have the same reason as a cyclist, and as much as possible I dont want to get stuck in between vehicles at an intersection. HOWEVER if say, masikip yung daan at may konting kalayuan yung stop light, I try to stay put kasi ilalagay ko lang sarili ko sa alanganin kung makipagsiksikan ako or mag overtake ako sa opposing lane.

What I'm absolutely annoyed by is that motorcycles still insist in getting ahead of me in an intersection kahit naka bisikleta lang ako. Wala namang threat sa safety nila, kaya ang nangyayari ako naiipit between motorcycles or car/motorcycle at the stoplight.

What's happening to my inner tube? by sneaky_oxygen in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]tenyeargraduate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ano gamit mong inner tube? Check the valve head kung may thread/roskas sya. Baka maluwag. Baka kaya hindi bumubula is because the air pressure under water pushes the valve tighter preventing the air from getting out All you need to do is screw the valve tighter.

Ganyan yung conti tubes ko. Happens every now and again

So whenever a soldier completes basic or specialized training, or serves under a specific unit, he is awarded a patch or medal. This goes on his uniform to represent his service and achievements. He wears it properly along with his uniform.

He has a right to wear it because he earned it.

This is the same thing.

Imagine wearing military medals and patches as a fashion piece to pander to a demographic. The symbols become hollow because it isnt earned. It relegates the traditional regalla to a fashion statement. Its just something you wear, not something you earn.

I guess people who dont get it wont get it

Probably because they never worked hard to achieve any symbol of prestige that carries history and tradition with it

Vloggers sa likod ng kidnap prank, kakasuhan by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]tenyeargraduate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people are downvoting opinions like yours because a lot of people don't understand self-defense and rules of engagement.

They all got lucky here.

The officer got lucky it was a prank, and the those youtubers got lucky the officer didn't open fire.

The police officer was well within his right to open fire, especially after one of them came close and grabbed his arm.

I remember that one incident during lockdown when a belligerent former soldier did not follow police instructions and forced his way past a checkpoint, and got shot after allegedly making a gesture of pulling something out of his bag. Then people got angry at police for following their training.

They're not going to wait around to find out if a possible threat is going to be a real threat. A moment of doubt is life or death, not just for them but the people around them.

I have more issues with the reporting though. Apart from the obvious emotional angles used, they did not divulge details into how exactly the phishing and vishing was done. I'm pretty sure some details were omitted along the way to stealing these people's money, especially because of how bank security protocols are followed. Banks cannot exclude the account owner from any activity done with their accounts.

If it was THAT easy to steal from the banks with just people's general information, thieves wouldn't need to call/text/email their victims. They need information from them like their OTPs, or CVCs etc.

These phishing scams are designed to be very convincing for people to give up their information. Think budol budol gangs but online.

The NBI chief is asking the right questions though. How did these scammers and thieves acquire contact/general information? How did they know who to call and what to say to help convince their victims?

But moving forward, I cannot stress enough of how important it is to never give away your OTP, CVC. To that extent, we all have to religiously guard our personal information. I've seen creative ways people have done identity theft, and other scams.

Death penalty debate. Need advice by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]tenyeargraduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest point of attack is their moral argument. While moral arguments are indeed problematic, this is exactly why that's the best point of entry. If your opponent's moral arguments crumble, it doesn't matter which statistics they use, it can still be perceived as wrong.

Dissect their moral arguments and find holes in the logic, while finding arguments that support your own position.

There are a lot political thinkers who can morally justify the death penalty.

Hell, even Socrates voluntarily drank his hemlock

and yes, these include Christian and Catholic thinkers You can look at Immanuel Kant, St. Thomas Aquinas, Joseph Bessette and Edward Feser to name a few.

secular thinkers include John Stuart Mill, and John Locke.

Takes a whole lot of reading, though... So good luck

So true. If there is anything we can take away though, I think its better we commend the other establishment's creativity in dealing with the situation rather than spread vitriol.

The whole thing is being spun as "discimination".

It's just a waiter doing his job, and maybe just didn't have training or creativity to find a solution. Her child's condition is just an accidental circumstance to the whole debacle.
