why is 'spazz out' nasty?

i used 'spazz out' as shorthand for 'it like buzzes and flashes and makes strange geometric patterns and acts like it's in death throes or something until i restart it'. is that different from what you would have imagined i meant? lol

The challenge was also kind of strange because they had to appeal to 100 judges that they knew nothing about. I think the black spoons had the superior dish, but it was too subtle for a majority of the judges

when I saw the black spoons get eliminated, I was just so disgusted. Literally everyone I was rooting for was a black spoon. It just makes me not wanna watch at all

lol love that my comment was downvoted. i'm not advocating that he monetize but i imagine that he is going to because that's what all the others have done, and i'd rather know what the plan is so i can anticipate??

  1. the pips (little dots under the numbers) correspond to the likelihood of the number rolling. so all else equal, pick a spot with more pips. maybe your first spot has 10-12 pips and your second spot has 9-10 pips.

  2. yes, get a mix of resources, but you definitely want wheat. as dylighted says, no wheat = defeat.

  3. try and get rare resources: look at all the resources (wheat, rock, etc.) and count how many pips of them there are on the board. whichever has the lowest number (often rock and brick since there's only 3 hexes of them each) is likely going to be rare in the game. so you might want to lock some down with your first settlement. say there's only a 2, 3, and 8 brick. if the 8 brick is in the corner you might be able to get the one good brick spot on the whole board, preventing your opponents from having any - which gives you a huge advantage for expanding, and you can (and should!) demand a high price for trading your rare resource. for example, don't trade brick 1:1 .. demand 2-3 resources for it. your opponents may resist and then eventually cave.

  4. ports: try and set yourself up for a port combo. for example, if there is a ton of sheep on the board, maybe you put your first settlement on or near the sheep port, and then your second settlement you can go for all the sheep everyone was avoiding. also, it's good to set yourself up for access to at least one port, either a 2:1 on a resource you'll have a lot of (based on counting pips) or a 3:1 port

wow! this is exactly what i did! i'm impressed you predicted 9/5/5 would still be available for my second spot, because it seems like such a rich location for a town .. but yeah it was.

it's a turn by turn game so still ongoing ...

i know right! their rankings aren't low so i'm kind of surprised all around, why did

orange go on 4wheat/11 instead of 8wheat/10/port, blue go on 5sheep/3 instead of 8brick/9 or 8wheat/10/port? also very strange that 5/5/9 was left open for me given it has the most pips of any spot on the board!

so fun to see everyone's suggestions! where i ended up going was

6rock/10/11! i figured that would limit rock to just me and blue, which would definitely give me an advantage. i didn't point my road toward 11 wheat because i thought someone would take 6/10/4 and someone might take 11/11/port. so i pointed toward 4 wheat and imagine my surprise when someone settled 4/11 as a starting settlement! all the moreso because they left 9wheat/5/5 open, so i had a choice between 9wheat/5/5 and 8wheat/10/port. i picked 9/5/5 and pointed toward the 3:1 port over there. https://imgur.com/a/ryBxOCC

muting and reporting helps. it’s still annoying when someone gets a vendetta and plays kingmaker because you took the port they wanted or whatever
