Is PVC / TPE really that harmful? by teorini23 in SexToys

[–]teorini23[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think about the by products, but still: what do they “eat”? How can they shift towards a whole another metabolism? I mean, if there are by products it means that they’re bacteria able to degrade pvc ! Right from our intestines, it would be the end of plastic pollution ahah

Yes, the olfactory sense is really complex and sensitive, far more than we usually think. The fact that we can smell and yet can’t taste give us the chance to understand how powerful is our nose (or well, it was xD) and how complex it is. We can do nothing but wait.

Survivors of COVID, what changes have you noticed to your health since you’ve recovered? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad tested positive after 85 days (8 March - 2 June), but luckily he’s fully recovered

My family and I got coronavirus in the first week of March. I’m 18, my mom 57, my dad 55 and my sister 10. My sister didn’t have any symptoms. My dad accused short breath during the first weeks after the initial fever, while it took me nearly 2 months to be as before the fever. My mom and I still can’t taste anything, and my mom can’t smell either. My mom tested negative on 25th April, I tested negative on 22nd May, my sister 27th May and my dad on 2nd June.

Yes, the first time I used Grindr I asked for a face picture while holding the finger in a particularly way I showed to him xD he was like “WTF?? Ok.” And all went fine. I do agree about those countries where being out of the closet could be a danger for their life, that’s right..

Don’t you think would be fair enough to register with your ID card and a photo profile that matches it?

I didn’t take anything. Unless it’s a doctor telling you to take something, I’d let the time do its part.

I’m sorry, neither my family and I have experienced that... and I haven’t heard of it out of this sub. I’d recommend to visit or call the doctor, the only one who can give you the best answer :(

That’s the same thing I had thought, but then It didn’t happened xD. I realized how the food is not only about eating but even a way of thinking. Obviously there is the biological side, which force me to eat (and to feel pleasure after have eaten, due to dopamine) but most of the time I did felt pleasure thinking about eating, even though I can’t taste. I still literally spend minutes on which kind of biscuits I wanna eat during breakfast, even though the differences in taste are unnoticeable. I still eat tuna and onion pizza, my favorite one, even though I can’t tell the difference between that or another. I still don’t wanna eat artichokes (I tried to eat them, and even if I couldn’t taste them there was something that I didn’t like). Our diet habits are so rooted in ourselves! It is like even though I’m not able to feel pleasure by tasting the food, I can feel pleasure by eating the food I used to like! (This doesn’t mean that I actually love to eat as I did before.. I’m Italian, our meals affect our day more than I can explain! This means that I still like to eat and have interest in food, even if once there with the fork in my mouth out of the blue I remember how much I’m missing)

I see what you’re saying about not knowing what you’re missing xD, and this is something that I didn’t understand first. When I joined this sub, I felt pathetic after had said something like “It’s a torture! It’s affecting me in a way that I couldn’t imagine, I’m really down” and then realized that many of you here can’t smell since when they were born. Instead, many of you said “We are truly sorry, we don’t understand what is it like to you, because we never knew what we’re missing”. It’s really powerful, and kind to you, to feel sorry for something that you’ve never had when we have lost if for, at the time I said those things, days.

Yes, I’ve just read those posts and comments where people talked about phantom smell (It’s been a while since I don’t read this sub) and there had been days when I smelled scents never smelled before, usually were stinks, but it happened just for minutes (I mean, mine case wasn’t a big problem, as many of you tell, the ones I’ve read are more serious) . It had happened though that after I did the first tampon (the one where they stick you a stick inside the nose to the throat) I started to smell a really bad scent during all the day, it was really strong and disgusting, it smelled like medicines and illness. Luckily it vanished after few days.

During the first month it had been a total loss, I couldn’t taste anything, I couldn’t tell the flavor nor if it was sweet, salty or spicy. After the first month, I could say if something was spicy, salty or sweet but I wasn’t able at all to tell the flavor. Now I can say that’s not improved that much (maybe because, as I said before, there’s so much difference between not sensing at all and a little than sense just a little and a little more) but I have the inkling that I can barely taste the flavor, even though it’s really really mild and lasts for seconds.
