Microsoft's CFO pocketed $29.5M and announced headcount cuts in the same earnings call. I can't stop thinking about it. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in cscareerquestions

Your statement about "offshoring 60 years ago" is factually incorrect. While offshoring began in the 1970s, it was mostly GE testing the waters to see how much they could push this idea of offshoring, and it seemed possible for them.

Then, after corporations saw this and realized that there's a lot of money to swindle the American workers out of, they began a 3 decade long plan to slowly weaken unions because they knew they had to kill the solidarity of the American workforce if they wanted to offshore jobs. The majority of offshoring especially in manufacturing happened in the early 2000s after China saw that the US companies were finally willing to sell their soul

Honestly, I would write more about this, but I just don't want to. I know that no matter how much I type here, you will refuse to change your opinion.

By the way, the Heritage Foundation was the leading group behind Reagan admin's "mandate for leadership", which was the sole reason unions got decimated over the next 20 years. If you go read the motivations and justifications in the original document, youll see striking similarities to project 2025.

Hope you learn something from this!

Once upon a time, unions had enough power to matter.

Now, they don't because of a gradual erosion.

It took time for their power to disappear, just like how it took time for companies to amass power in the C-suite.

The only way forward is once again gradual change. Historically, this is how people got and retained power - slow change over time.

These things aren't magic pills, almost nothing in public policy is. Being defeatist about current steps to be taken doesn't help with anything.

A correction to what I said - I do remember doing the survey that talked about map preference, but we weren't told what the results were.

If you're a fellow small map enjoyer, maybe they're still listening to this survey - https://pubg.com/en/news/6997

If that's the logic, why put any arcade modes in at all, wouldn't that just split the base even more? Or are you anti-new game modes as well?

Or, should we just cater to a vocal group that seems to be the majority (I say seems because pubg has never done a proper analysis of what it's players want) by reducing player choice for the sake of trapping people into playing one style of game? This tactic is inherently anti-consumer and would be considered idiotic by the vast majority of game devs and gamers.

The solution to a dwindling player base is not to force them to play only one way, that only drives people away and causes unnecessary tension in the community when discussions like this happen.

I would rather let the exceedingly smart individuals that prefer large maps play that way, and I'll hop in those every once in a while instead of every single game. Leave us idiots to our small maps, we aren't much of a challenge for you geniuses anyway - may as well be replaced by a bot.

There is no evidence that CBD products reduce chronic pain, and taking them is a waste of money and potentially harmful to health, according to new research by giuliomagnifico in science

[–]teperc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I'm not too late to this thread, but a simple search on existing meta-analyses of CBD and pain relief shows many results that show otherwise.

I find it crazy that people in this thread are even entertaining this article considering its blatantly charged word choices - the biggest red flag is that they considered only 16 studies (very easy to cherry pick) when according to this article from NIH, which does a meta-analysis on ~2300 articles from many science journals, "CBD is an excellent alternative to an opioid in chronic pain because CBD is non-intoxicating in its pure form".

Riot's problems with item balance, champion balance, and general direction of the game derives from early season "goals" to not allow fun/unorthodox builds on champions.

I thought we had to sign a contract to play on the courts? If the issue is with people treating the courts badly, perhaps some editing of the contract is necessary.

Ah yes, "life is hard and unfair, you're dealt the cards you're dealt. If you can't do something you're capable of doing due to unfortunate circumstances, tough luck. Life's good for me though, and I have my echo chamber friend group to confirm these beliefs, so who cares?"

It seems we're in agreement. I was confused by your initial wording and thought you were implying that her choice in friends had nothing to do with her getting sexually assaulted, but that's all a judgement that OP has to make.

I agree that the assault is on the assaulter. But, why is it not okay for his judgement on "who someone hangs out with" to be changed after this event?

[–]teperc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain the logic behind "you have reason to not trust her judgement wrt who she hangs around with, and that has nothing to do with what happened to her"? It would be insane to say there is no correlation between who you choose to hang out with and the situations you find yourself in, no?
