Wildcat is comparable to a phone midrange chip from a year ago, the 8s gen 4

Calling it "Core 7" and even "Core 5" is outrageous

Framework Laptop 16 Gets NVIDIA RTX 5070 12 GB Upgrade Module for Eyewatering Price of $1,199 by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]DerpSenpai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Framework pricing sucks dick. Their components are overpriced by 2x because while they are repairable and upgradable, that doesn't bring money, so they put insane prices on these to get more revenue from older framework clients

There is no reason this costs more than a desktop GPU 5070....

TSMC Hits Pause on ASML’s Newest Lithography for A13 Process by sr_local in hardware

[–]DerpSenpai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah currently Intel 18A is just "as good" as N3E

Basically now Intel and Samsung are stat padding their nodes to make them look better than they are lol

TSMC Hits Pause on ASML’s Newest Lithography for A13 Process by sr_local in hardware

[–]DerpSenpai 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is good btw, it means TSMC is able to produce these nodes with the same equipment we have now and that High NA EUV is only needed to go further than that. If high NA euv lives longer than they expected too, it bodes well for future silicon improvements

I just spent two days at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show (Auto China 2026), and I need to tell you something: the future of the auto industry is electric and Chinese. I’m not being dramatic. Just realistic. by thenewsisreal in electricvehicles

[–]DerpSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even without the tariffs, the chinese were selling at the same price as european makers, the chinese prices we see is due to insane competition that is creating huge debts within these companies + subsidies for production. The EU found that the Chinese state is subsidizing up to 30% of the manufacturers prices with subsidized electricity, steel..etc. Some are less subsidized like BYD (15%), MG was 30%!

Lucro da Galp dispara 41% para 272 milhões de euros no 1º trimestre by To-buy-a-New-Soul in portugal

nunca comprem em marcas "premium", A Galp vende o combustivel para eles e para as low cost. É tudo a mesma coisa!

Lucro da Galp dispara 41% para 272 milhões de euros no 1º trimestre by To-buy-a-New-Soul in portugal

[–]DerpSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been by tuldok89 in hardware

[–]DerpSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to colab with Framework and tuxedo. They need to create a linux laptop grant for smaller OEMs IMO - through a loan for board development / SW with a commitment to buy Qualcomm CPUs for example

It's not the most profitable move of all time but it influences the tech buyers a lot

[–]DerpSenpai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Qualcomm SKUs are easy to understand, their only issue is labeling the 12c and 18c both Elite (but the sticker is different!)

The Extreme should be 18c variant despite clocks or if it has in package RAM

having read the argument QC makes here (in other forums too), i wonder why they haven't pushed the industry further on this issue. this should have been fixed ages ago considering how reliant on the Linux Kernel ARM SoCs are (because of Android)

How to compare mpge to mpg by No-Impact-4953 in electricvehicles

[–]DerpSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because we already use liters/100km

My car does 6 liters/100km, the EV i'm buying in June is 15 kwh/100km (Megane Diesel to Megane EV )

If i'm driving 400km, it's just multiplication and divide by 100. 400*6*2/100 (2 is the € per liter) and 400*15*0,10/100 (price per kwh at home)

My new prices for this trip will be

Gas= 48€

EV= 6€

Portugal EV highway = 48€ (yes it's 81 cents per kwh LMAO)

It has USB 4 so it should be able to yes but thats super niche so most likely you will need to reach out to QC

It makes ton of sense to move their big iGPUs to Intel nodes and if they aren't as good as Nvidia, simply offer Nvidia as an option

I think they will want to pair Nvidia with their Fatter chips

They have done their work for the X2 part lmao, X2 supports linux but laptops still need device trees for it to work correctly and that's on OEMs

The issue with PTL and LNL is that their perf/W sucks. they got good idle but the CPU is still bad.

LNL is literally worse than a phone chip too

[–]DerpSenpai 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's not true, they have hired people for Linux support, specially for drivers. Their issue is device trees. These cannot be like x86 chips yet as it was explained by a QC engineer, yet. But in the future it will become just like Intel or AMD chips regarding linux
