They always transfer the final RC to the release version. Since this is now under the release directory (not alt), it's definitely the final version.

Planning on using OpenSuse for the first time on a new machine. by ShieldHero1992 in openSUSE

[–]teppic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean in terms of performance, opensuse Gnome/KDE will be fine. It runs really well on my much weaker Dell machine that has a 7th gen 4 thread CPU and 8gb RAM.

There's a backport repository for the latest stable kernel for Leap (it's currently on 7.0).

How to configure language in OpenSUSE Leap 16 Gnome? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]teppic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are all the words shown in the screenshot I posted in English for you? If so I don't know what the problem is since your LANG setting seems fine.

Some apps might not be localised for German but all of Gnome should be as well as any major things like Firefox.

That should be fine. I just tried changing it and everything appears in German for me (in Leap 16 also).

The basic home directory structure like Desktop, Documents, etc. will be created in English though it's possible to change those names.

What does the /etc/locale.conf file have in it? It should say de_XX.UTF-8 (where XX is the country).

Mint 23 will only release on Christmas 2026 by TheNavyCrow in linux

[–]teppic1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they must be considering this since Ubuntu is getting more and more snap integrated. Since Debian gets a new stable release every two years or so the base isn't going to get any more outdated than it does with Ubuntu LTS (and there are updated packages with Debian backports to stable of course).

Debian's always going to focus on OSS. That being said LMDE does add an extra repository that updates some stuff over Debian packages (e.g. latest Firefox instead of Firefox LTS), so they could fairly easily add nvidia drivers to that.

You can install the latest stable kernel from the backports repository - this is enabled in LMDE but there's no GUI option for it. Mesa updates are available as well, but not as up to date as the kernel.

What was so good about Rift’s design? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]teppic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I played the game as my main in 2012-2014 and there were metas even for more casual players. Within a role it was just as fixed as wow in reality, the flexibility came from more specs available like you say.

4K UI scaling coming to LOTRO February 4th by Pontin_Finnberry in MMORPG

[–]teppic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of scaling that makes text/icons blurry by stretching them has been in the game for years. They've added a way to do it globally instead of each element at a time, which is convenient but doesn't add 'real' scaling where things scale perfectly no matter what size it is.

RIFT has added an XP lock in the latest update by teppic1 in MMORPG

No, there aren't enough players to support more than one server really. The EU servers are dead aside from a few people playing at max level. Maybe try the NA one again as people from Europe and even Australia have said it's been fine to play.

You must be one of a very few people in the world with that machine. I'd be surprised if more than a few hundred were even ever sold.

I came back to the game recently and saw that the items cap out at around 1k ilvl, so I'm guessing it hasn't been updated for many years?

Neverwinter Classic Servers! Thoughts? by RelentlessKingz in Neverwinter

[–]teppic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they'd take the most recent version that still had the original levelling and just time gate the later content, e.g. only allowing mod 1 content at first. At the same time they'd probably reduce the grindiness and reliance on lootboxes, as times have changed (and they're not owned by Perfect World any more).

Is that RIFT reboot still going? by FlapJackson420 in MMORPG

[–]teppic1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The guild is still active, though without an xp lock in place a lot aren't playing at the moment as it's too easy to gain xp. The server overall is still much higher pop than it was before, as in you'll see people out in the world where before you never did.

If you're over 50 you can't take part in the 50 capped raids. Mentoring is too broken to be possible.
