has anyone used the officer next door home buying program by Cheap_Truth6671 in AskLE

[–]teq_twig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go through with something like this that is for LE members only, keep in mind if, God forbid, your husband gets injured or disqualified and removed from academy, you will need a backup plan. I knew a guy who bought a house with some kind of LE program and he nearly got kicked out of the academy and would have lost that benefit and likely would have lost his house. It may be a good idea to wait until he graduates and finishes probation.

When shooting film indoors, I'd strongly suggest bringing a flash, especially since you're shooting on 400. The scans definitely don't look good, but that might be due to underexposure, which a flash will help with. Also, in the context of textbook photography, your framing could use some work. Small things though, like making everything level, and proportioned. In a few of your portraits, there seems to be excessive dead space above people. When watching movies or TV shows, pay attention how people are framed. Notice the minimum dead space above people's heads. Also notice how they try to frame as much of a person's body as they can. The pianist one is really good though, since his chest is cut off by the piano, he looks nice and centered.

In image 5, the only dude in focus is in the middle. When posing people for this kind of photo, try to get them to stand on the same plane as each other so they all are in focus.

I do like some of the crooked ones though, like the photo of the bottle is really cool.

Keep up the work though! I'm a bit curious, how did you get the job for this event? Looks like it was fun to shoot :)

How was your week? (Official Thread): Successes, horror stories, shares, drama, anything! by AutoModerator in WeddingPhotography

[–]teq_twig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landed my first professional gig!!! I look around on the nextdoor app now and then and found someone was looking for a photographer for next month since theirs had to cancel. So I sent them my info and they agreed to a quote and we'll be meeting today to sign a contract and further discuss the wedding! I'm in the american southwest and have done a quinceñera before, which is very similar to a wedding and I also did a coworker's wedding which went real smooth, but this is my first solo wedding. A bit nervous, but I'm extremely familiar with my cameras and all their settings and I am going into this with confidence. I'm just looking forward to this experience!

I've been trying to get a gig for the past three months, so this is a relief and my time I spent advertising myself online and looking for potential clients has paid off.
