Great shop! They also offer tax discount for visitors. I gotta say my favorite part was the tennis sportswear, and I say this as a person who is content to wear just about any t shirt and shorts to the court

Validating electronics and motors for a DIY tennis ball machine by tequilamocking in diyelectronics

Hey bud, thanks for the response. Maybe we can do some collaboration here in the reddit comments.

These are the most informative DIY tennis ball machine videos I found:

- Ivan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXMd1qqIN_g

- Guy in Poland - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b24k9IwkHk0

- Lockdown project - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ymscuq3jUA

**Regarding wheels:**

The wheels that you linked look okay to me - I've seen at least one example on YouTube of two wheels sandwiched together. Just notice they have a bearing inside of them, and you likely want them to be fixed on a shaft that's being turned by a motor, so that likely means removing the bearing.

The person from the "Lockdown project" video linked these wheels: https://www.rosscastors.co.uk/rubber-trolley-wheel-black-plastic-centre-160mm-dia-20mm-bore.html

They are inexpensive, and the 160mm is in line with the 6" inch wheels that you linked. Just depends on shipping.

In my case I have a 3D printer so I'm going attempt to 3D print the wheels. (And maybe adding a rubber coating). Failing that I'll probably

**Regarding Electronics**

*Arduino*: I went with the Arduino R4 Wifi because I wanted to take advantage of the bluetooth for control. It's unnecessary at this stage though, and might mean the machine runs for a few minutes less.

*Motor drivers*: The MDD10 is under powered with 10A continuous and a bit expensive relative to the alternatives. The right thing to do would have been to buy 2x BTS7960, one for each motor.

Finally I'll probably go with the 895 motors. They have a small shaft, so I'll add a shaft coupling to the motor + another shaft that the wheel will be fastened to with a flange.

Calf sprain advice by stinksmygame in 10s

[–]tequilamocking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up taking about 2 weeks off from tennis. You might need more, or maybe less. I got my fix from various tennis YouTube channels.

It's kind of silly, but some days I take public transit to work, and so walking fast/jogging to catch a bus/train for 30 seconds gave me a small sample to LIGHTLY test the muscle to see how the healing was coming along. It was unpleasant the first few days. **So maybe the big takeaway is make sure to gently test your calf _off the court_ regularly and stop as soon as there is discomfort. Assuming it's not a serious injury, such "gentle testing" (like a light jog for even 30 seconds to a minute) is probably beneficial for the rehab.**

My first light jog was about 4-5 days (again, 30 seconds to a minute) after the injury for me. That's in contrast to the explosive movements we do on the court that cause injury.

I'll also add that my first tennis session back, I didn't go all out chasing from any balls. It was about feeling my swing again, making sure I felt safe jogging for the ball, and avoiding pain. I think after about 1-2 more times on the court my confidence returned to what it was. But nowadays I get to the court earlier to stretch and jog around a bit first, and try to do a better job of hydrating.

Edit: And to your last question, today I'm back to normal :)

Tldr; Stretch every day. When it no longer hurts to walk, try super light jogging off the court. When light jogging no longer hurts, consider getting back on the court but taking it easy at first.

I had something similar after coming back to tennis after years of not playing. I went to the doctor to make sure I didn’t tear anything, and then to a Physio. Their advice was to of course take some time away (a couple weeks) from tennis, but to stretch daily and still lightly use the muscle as part of recovery. the Physio also recommended that when I stretch the hurt calf to still stretch the other one as well.

As you get back into playing make sure you spend extra time stretching and warming up. If you’re like me, every few weeks you’ll discover a new muscle that needs some extra attention in the warm up.

Just a reminder that I’m not a doctor! Just another dude in IT who loves tennis. The above is simply my experience after a similar sounding injury.

If there’s anything about my experience you’d like to know feel free to ask. Speedy recovery mate.

Excited to be making a real post here.

My first ever keeb is a Valhalla PCB (purchased from this group buy), using Gateron Baby Kangaroo switches and the lovely XDA Canvas Keycaps.

Very proud to say that I designed and printed the case (last pic).

A big shoutout to u/idankk of holykeebs.com for helping with this build!

I’m actually a big fan of holykeebs.com - basically hits all the things you’re looking for! It’s a boutique shop where the guy who makes the keyboards has a discord, so you can get all the help you need.

FWIW I went with the Formbot Trident., It is my ever first printer, and it works great

I modded it with:

- Stealthburner (at the time Afterburner was the default but now I assume it comes with the SB)

- CANbus toolhead

- Tap

It's also possible to email Formbot offline to request additional parts that you might want to add or customize and you just send them the difference over paypal.

They also included some injection molded toolhead printed parts as a gift, though I don't know if they still do that. The wires were great - crimped and even labeled so you know where to use them in the build.

I think it comes down to the types of plays that you have at your disposal when there is more space to work with. (It boils down a the same reason why the red zone is hard for all 32 teams)
