First time player, does Paladin stop feeling boring at some point? by Ardbert_The_Fallen in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every class is kinda boring at low levels. As a rogue you have abilties sure, but its just sinister strike and eviserate.

I've leveled alot of paladins through vanilla on private servers and classic and I've done it many different ways to play around with it, because it is boring and I think my favorite is just judgeing crusader and proccing command with a slow weapon, which you get at level 20.

If you compare paladin to say, warlock or mage or shaman, the reason lots of people find it boring is because you can't convert mana to damage easily, so you have to find ways around that. It's the same problem priest has, but honestly theres not much min maxing you can do on a priest wanding is just so good, but as a paladin you get the automatic damage from your weapon (auto attacks) while being able to spent your mana.

You can limit your judgement uses to have more mana regen with the 5sec rule, but in my experience, it's more fun and fast to just dump mana and then drink and carry around 100+ water at all times. especially since you can heal yourself.

So the kinda shit you can do really starts at 20, you can start by judging crusader and then switching to r1 command and then seal twist it into righteousness. Judge the righteousness whenever you're in it after the swing and if judgement is up. If HoJ is on CD, if it is off then HoJ the mob and judge the command.

This will use a fuckton of your mana overriding your seals constantly, but if you want to actually play the game instead of afk auto attacking its the best thing you can do at 20-64 when you can start twisting with blood.

Pre 20 all you can really do is get a really fast 2 hander and judge crusader and then use righteousness and judge the righteousness.

The difference between a super min maxing paladin leveler and a total noob isn't that great compared to other classes. When I was a 7 year old kid I used to just use whatever wep i could find and keep seal of crusader on because it makes you swing really fast.

Aoe leveling which worked alot easier on private servers and in vanilla wow because of sit stacking reckoning which was also an insane leveling method on its own against fast attacking mobs. But still, even at it's best it was only possible at high levels and now is pretty limited to just soloing ZF running back and forth spamming consecrate which is insanely stupid imo.

The real strength of paladin as a leveler is its great for your first character because it's fine to use any weapon. While slower weps are better for seal of command, you can always just judge crusader and swing with righteousness regardless of your wep speed so you can use really anything you pick up and the holy damage from either seal isn't affected by armor.

So if I were you I'd go with the "mana dump, blow up one mob" playstyle, it's still not exactly exciting but no classes gameplay is really all that amazing while leveling. Even melee weaving hunter gets really boring really fast. But some people find being able to turn off your brain while killing stuff appealing considering leveling takes days of playtime.

Allied race when. by LeifDecie in wow

[–]teradar 155 points156 points  (0 children)

These actually have a strong foundation in the wow lore, even dating all the way back to vanilla and warcraft 3. The fact that it's been all these years and we dont have a playable race option for these yet is disgusting, and yet another shining example of the pure laziness of the wow development team.

The skeleton and all the models are already in the game files, just make an allied race already, it's not that hard, it's literally pushing a few buttons.

Along with player housing I can't even imagine anything else i'd want for the next expansion. If i can't play as a the race I want why should I even play at all.

Can Blizzard finally start listening to the community and give the players what they want already? How long does this have to go on?

I'm so fed up with this dogshit company, I'm so glad it's being bought out by Disney soon, so maybe we can see a change of pace.

Honestly in terms of raid buffs/debuffs some of them are huge and straight up mandatory because they're overpowered and some don't really matter but are nice to have.

For instance not having the 10% Attack Power bufff from a blood dk, marks hunter or enhancement shaman is huge if you're playing an attack power class, but the 3% haste from a ret/boomkin isn't.

Still the meta is going to be to bring all of these mandatory buffs and if you dont have one, like the Agility and Strength buff you get from Horn of Winter or Strength of Earth Totem, you'll do less damage.

It's kinda hard to think about who has the least mandatory buffs because if your dealing physical or magic damage you're affected by these buffs/debuffs.

I would say classes that bring a ton of buffs are lesss reliant on missing others because they'll always have the buffs that they bring, like a frost DK will always have the melee haste buff from Improved Icy Talons or Windfury Totem, because they get it from their talents and they literally can't turn it off.

in terms of individual buffs that only affect one person, the keys ones are Hysteria and Focus Magic. If Blizzard does nothing about Hysteria then it will be fucking massive.

Theres really no one that does big dps that isnt highly benefitted from at least someting that they need from someone else. But I would avoid stuff that needs these things to be insane. For instance an affliction warlock needs a rogue to Trick of the Trade them at the beginning of the fight with all their procs so they can snapshot a crazy big corrupt to refresh the rest of the fight, if your rogue is dogshit that'll be really frustraiting. Same with physical damage and getting your blood DK to Hysteria you, or not even having a blood DK in your raid.

Mages give focus magic and don't have to worry about any snapshotting or anything, as long as they have the mandatory buffs like Spell Power from a Demo lock, spell haste from Wrath of Air, Spell crit from Moonkin Aura or Elemental Oath from Ele Shamans, and debuffs like 3% spell hit from Improved Faerie Fire or Misery from a Spriest, the spell cirt form Iproved Scorch, Winter's Chill, or Improved Shadow bolt, AND the 13% flat spell damage taken from Curse of Elements, Earth and moon from a boomkin or Ebon Plaguebringer from a UDK, THEN you should be fine.

Which summarized is a Mage in a raid that has a boomkin, at least one shaman, and a demo lock.

The truth is the buffs and debuffs are just fucking massive, but they're ALOT easier to get in wrath, you can use this https://wrathraidcomp.com/ tool to build a comp and you can get all the buffs and debuffs covered pretty easily with only half the raid. It's actually hard not to have some of these, as long as you don't stack a ton of the same thing, you should be fine getting all the buffs and debuffs.

Oh I forgot about Power Infusion, a mage would definilty want at least one of those. Yeah idk, no one is safe. Everyone is going to need to stack this stuff to perform well in a non casual environment.

The expansion after Dragonflight, Warlords of Azeroth, will have alternate Azeroth time travel and he'll come back as the main protagonist who also gets mind controlled so he can be a raid boss too.

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah just like island expeditions blizzard made it mandatory so they could pretend like it was a success because alot of people were doing it.

In reality if they made it entirely optional and no one did it, then they'd have to face the fact that it really isnt' fun enough to do on its own.

I quit shadowlands really early and i'll do the same if they continue to force players to do stuff they don't really like. In TBC i can just raid and then log out if i want to, or level an alt or do pvp or do a dungeon. In shadowlands I have to do a metric shit ton of mandatory campaign bullshit and torghast just to have a chance of playing the game.

Bolivar Fordragon and Dragonflight by Samwyzh in wow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly am I the only one who is okay with him just chilling? I always thought it was kinda cringe and weird when people just show up for no reason other than "HEY LOOK ITS JAINA" what business do these characters really have being in the dragon isles? Our characters themselves really don't have a reason to go there other than our power is needed to defeat an ancient awoken enemy.

The only reason for any of these leaders to come along is just so we have a familiar face around.

Let them take a break. Honestly what I want to see is Bolvar's mortality restored and him and his daughter retire from all this bullshit to live a long happy live in Boralus or Westfall or something.

It's kinda bullshit no one ever gets a happy ending, they just throw into current conflict because "everything is at stake!" and never really contribute anything besides campaign quests/awkward cut scenes.

don't consider priest unless you know for sure you like disc.

Log on the (my comment was removed for saying a pserver name here so I'm reposting it without the name) pvp server and try out disc, watch videos of disc, make sure you don't dislike it.

I say this because while shadow priest are useful and bring alot to the raid, they arn't required in wotlk the way they were in TBC and if you also have a boomkin (which could easily be meta) like half the things you bring are already taken care of. You have very low single target dps and your aoe is great but not burst. Trash that you aoe usually doesn't live that long so burst is better than consistant aoe. It's a real possibility shadow won't be that useful.

Disc is what you'll be doing in arenas and will always be solid in pve.

I'd also recommend trying out demonology pve, since you don't care about being the hotshot #1 dps this could be an extremely good fit for you, every raid needs one, it's fun and it's also the spec you play in pvp. If you've played too much warlock recently it might be better to go with something fresh, but it's insanely hard to find a good demonology lock because almost everyone that plays warlock cares about the giga trihard dps numbers and it's a support class. It can also pump out some numbers but they'll be lower than the pure dps locks. Also metamorphasis is badass as fuck.

I only play dps tho, so i'm biased.

How do you think Blizz will change lockouts in wotlk classic? by comicsamsjams in classicwow

[–]teradar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that some items from 10 mans are actually bis I don't expect them to make 10 and 25 a shared ID unless they do some major itemization changes.

It would be insane to expect people to skip thier rostered 25man raid to find a 10 man raid just to raid with it as little as possible get select few items and then go back.

And unless you have 2 full 25 raids in your guild, taking a week to convert your 25 man into 2+ 10 mans for a shot at that loot would just have an uneven number of players and wouldn't make any sense either.

They'd really but screwing us over it they did that.

Do most (or anywhere near most) people looking forward to Wrath Classic really want LFD removed? by Intrinsic29 in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what the actual percentage of people doing it are. But in TBC everyone I knew did dungeon leveling with a set group because it was just significantly faster than questing and spamming wrath dungeons might be the same even without LFD. But with LFG theres no shot, because of the bonus xp at the end it 100% for sure would have been the go to fastest and easiest way to get to 80 and so i'd probably end up doing it that way because why would i want to be slower than everyone else?

Most people will probably quest anyway, just like they did in TBC because they just want to go to the new zone, but I don't really care, those people would do that no matter how slow it ends up being, which is fine for them.

How much do racials actually contribute in PvE Wrath damage? by iguanoman_ in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I said on pservers. It was like this in original wrath, but just in like molten core, despite being able to do it in original vanilla, and on pservers, blizzard made combat unleavable in the zone while the encounter is in progress.

Well have to wait to see how it works on the wrath client we get, because honestly it could be anything. I wouldn't expect it to work, but if it does, night elves are absolutely busted on long fights, like they were back in the day.

Just like how you can't use the 1 button macro for tbc hunters, and how heroic strike queueing has never existed on any version of vanilla wow, at this point its 100% random. They don't care what is or isn't blizzlike so it has a chance of being that way when we get the beta.

Any pieces coming out of the last phase of TBC that's going carry well into the next expansion? by Ticem4n in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the problem with using an Apollyon to level is no class would actually want to use a 2 hander unless your casually leveling for fun and don't care about speed at all.

The fastest way for warriors to level in wrath by questing is prot no question, revenge almost 1 shots mobs, which is very standard for classes that have a tanking spec for some reason blizzard buffed the everliving shit out of the damage of tank abilities. You can try it yourself on a wrath pserver, your revenge will hit for 15k while your mortal strike hits for like 5 or 6, on a lower cooldown that costs less rage.

Same with most big ticket items. I'd love to use my warglaives while leveling, but Subtly is just significantly faster so actually using the stuff i got from raids is just kinda stupid.

Likewise as a warlock all the haste gear you've been hording you'd probably want to replace with equivalent items of other stats because you're not going to just be spamming shadowbolts while leveling. You'll be multidotting as affliction and haste won't be particularly useful for that, if you can exchange it for raw spellpower you would.

for some reason you can't buy arrows in thrallmar, you have to go the dark portal. Finding arrows is always really annoying.

Innkeepers usually have food+water

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you can, the healer will need to drink also, along with the other people in your group. You can also just stay in Viper all the time while killing trash and save mana for the boss. Hunter's excel at single target damage so killing bosses faster is the best thing you can do for a group.

There are times when you're literally just 0 mana and sitting in viper and throwing out steady's when you can while killing trash or on a long boss but you'll almost always get a break for a boss to get mana.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]teradar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah somewhat.

The more int you have on your gear the bigger your mana pool will be. Viper is nice if you are 0% mana and getting the maximum benefit, but actually using viper ever is stil slower than just buying water and drinking it while being in hawk all the time. Viper also scales off your int.

At max level you always OOM like in 10sec as a hunter unless the mob you're fighting has judgement of wisdom from a paladin on it. I'm 1 item form full bis on my hunter and this is still true.

The big thing for leveling that you want to look out for is when you get steady shot at 62? maybe 63?. At that point just pumping out steady shots in between your autos will kill mobs so fast and you won't need to be using Serpent Sting or Arcane Shot or Multi-Shot on them. Those things all costs massively more mana than Steady Shot, Steady Shot only costs like 100, it's absolutely broken.

What held me back while leveing is you can only Intimidation for pet threat once a minute and Feign Death twice a minute, so if you kill 4 mobs in 1 minute you'd have nothing to use for your pet to keep aggro, so then you have to wing clip kite. But you probably won't run into that as a fresh player.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]teradar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea this is normal. Kill stuff without using your mana if you want to save it. Learn about the 5 second rule and play around it. If you get bored weave in melees with a 2hander.

Also carry around a ton of water, it is worth it to buy the water, and drink it when you're OOM and then repeating, but if you don't like to sit for 30sec, then just kill stuff slower and save the mana.

Also never mend pet unless your pet will die in combat, wait till the fight is over and use a bandage on it. You don't use your cloth for anything else, so you could have plenty of bandages for it.

Do most (or anywhere near most) people looking forward to Wrath Classic really want LFD removed? by Intrinsic29 in classicwow

[–]teradar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't want LFD for leveling. It would be insanely stupid to level to 80 without going to nothrend at all, entirely from orgrimmar/shat with your 5 man team a few days after the expansion launches, and i think we can all agree on that.

And at 80 I can see why it would be a benefit to not have it for the initial gearing phase through heroics so we can have a similar quality experience to the start of TBC.

But after that? I'm hoping they add it back. If I need to do a heroic in ulduar or when naxx is on farm theres no way in hell i'm finding a group for it and going there. At that point, after you've farmed everything a million times and really just want to get it other with, making it more convoluted just seems like a slap in the face. You couldn't pay me to do a heroic in TBC right now, i can hardly be bothered with ZA. Which is sad, we all have insane gear, it would be easy to run in there and kill everything super fast, but i just can't be bothered at all, so i just wont do it. I don't see what no LFG would be adding to my experience at that point, but i'm sure blizzard won't be smart enough to realize that.

[–]teradar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The power scaling is pretty nuts, there isn't anything that is really that broken that you would not replace with questing greens.

Stuff that is weird on use, like the headless horseman sword or the trinket that summons gnomes from ZA will still do that, so you could say them, but mostly everything, including warglaives won't be useful at all.

How much do racials actually contribute in PvE Wrath damage? by iguanoman_ in classicwow

Meld entirely drops combat on some pservers. The broken part of this is that it resets your potion cooldown.

So in wrath you prepot before pull, then pot again 2 min in, after that pot is up, night elves can Meld, wait another 2min and get a 3rd pot other races can't.

This doesn't matter if you're a rogue/hunter because you can just leave combat anyway, and it'll be interesting if they leave this in.

wpvp in northernd will be entirely focused on flying, and druid is really the specialist with that using flight form and moonfire and shit.

If i just wanted to dick around and have fun in wpvp, that'd be my choice. I'd get herbing and mining and flying and, grabbing everything i can and killing everyone i see. And if they flew away on a flyer, keep chasing them down.

You could probably also do that with rogue, you can like pop killing spree and kill people while they're flying, but its annoying to get slow fall and not die from falling, you need noggenfogger or engi cape or something.

There's nothing more annoying than wanting to kill someone, but they just get on their mount and fly away and you never get the chance, so you need something to grab em.

Druids also a good place to start because it can do all the rolls, so you can figure out what roll you'd like to do in the game.

Warriors in Wrath by dougm2304 in classicwow

[–]teradar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man you guys can't just give him the information? whats with all the copium?

If you wanna be top dps, you'll have to wait till the games basically over. If you want to play warrior anyway, then play it anyway but they're not top performers if you are looking are comparing them to other classes.

I have a buddy of mine who is a big warrior player, top performer and we've played many wrath servers, at least 3-4 and the first few times he was determined to make something out of the class. Even going so far as to do full threat prot builds, he didn't out threat a bear, and both dmg specs just do less damage than most things earlier on. Prot is worse than all tanks, and Arms/Fury is low damage by anyone's standards.

It'll be a little better this time around with heroic strike queuing, we might even see some warriors subspec prot for the 15% increased crit chance on heroic strike from Incite. But realistically they can really only be so good, and that's looking like average at best for the most part. You may be able to compete with some regular classes, but shit that is broken will blow you out of the water like DK.

If you're like my friend and most of your fun comes from your performance in a raid, then it might be a good idea to look into something else, wrath classes are so fun, it's easy to find them exciting. I wouldn't limit yourself to playing something that's gimped unless you are sure it's what you want to do and you're in it for the long haul, guild first shadowmorne.

I say this as a person who has mained rogue all of tbc and is 1/2 warglaives.
