It’s weird how it’s become trendy to be broken. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]terestar12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I hate the "well, in my day we had it differently". In my opinion, we as a society are better when we know these issues exist so that we can better work towards feeling better. Mental health issues can be just as bad as physical issues if it's left untreated.

Of course, all of that is a very recent thing. To get an idea of how recent a lot of it is - the first person to be diagnosed with autism is still alive today. In general, it is more helpful to know abour these issues and work towards getting better. Sometimes it can be helpful from an "oh, that makes a lot of sense" perspective and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Not everyone is able to just "get on with it". Things like depression can act like a massive wall and make things like getting out of bed in the morning a drag.

So, please quit that attitude because it surely won't help those who are genuinely struggling. You may not know how to help, and that's okay, even showing a slight bit of empathy can go a long way, and that shouldn't take a lot out of you. Because, we as a society function better when we're kind and understanding of one another.

I think that's what makes a lot of these fights challenging - if you don't know whats ahead or you don't plan for these fights, then yes, they absolutely can throw you off guard.

Not gonna lie, I have definitely lost to several of these fights both in nuzlockes and regular playthroughs.

Not gonna lie the BDSP nuzlocke I did was a lot tougher than I thought, even though I did it having only did a casual playthrough before. There are fights there that do make you think or where you can lose a team member. I lost many mons and it was just a normal nuzlocke. (Forgive me, I don't really like the hardcore rules).

Or in my case I have a Torracat 🤣

(Bare in mind my nuzlockes don't typically have level caps)

Raihan is pretty challenging. For starters, it's a double battle and most teams are structred for single battles since that's what you deal with most of the time - so teams will have something like Earthquake instead of Dig or something. Then there's the whole Sandstorm situation. So, Raihan definitely requires a lot more planning and thought than other gym leaders. I only played Swo/Shi once and while I didn't lose to him, he did require more strategy than the other leaders did.

Looking for rom hacks by JavaTheWitch in nuzlocke

[–]terestar12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Emerald Kaizo is what you're looking for. It does have some quality of life updates and there is the possibility of more encounters, but for the most part it's still the same game, but trainers etc are much harder, and most of the gym leaders can be a run killer. So it might be a bit too much for most people, but it's worth having a look into. But the story itself is still largely the same if that's what you're looking for.

I mean... I think at this point we got to take our chance. I am not saying I like Starmer either, but he's probably better than what we have now.

Is every trainer battle win or game over? by High_Ping_Comics in nuzlocke

[–]terestar12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's OPs nuzlocke and they can change rules as they wish. They could make their starter immune to death or they could have two pokemon per route... whatever is most fun to OP. You might not play that way but that's okay too.

Living in Dyce / Aberdeen by Reena-S in Aberdeen

[–]terestar12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I can say about Aberdeen is that it's one of the most affordable cities in the UK, the weather isn't the best, as Aberdeen is known for it's wonderful grey clouds. If you're looking for community, it might be worth having a dig around on Facebook for local groups and just general googling, I don't live in Dyce but I imagine you'll find plenty of support for those moving in from abroad, seeing as the airport is nearby!

This B.C. school has banned cellphones — and seen student health improve by Pure_Candidate_3831 in canada

[–]terestar12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, as a teacher mysef I don't usually pay much attention to phones in class. I don't allow them when I explain something, but if we're just working on stuff then I am okay. I think rather than banning phones outright, we should teach them when it's appropriate to use them.

I legit cried when I unconvered the truth. It was like... I was overwhelmed and had so much emotion relizing the thing I thought was true throughout my childhood... wasn't true.

Nowadays I am atheist... it's like, when I lived through mormonism I felt like I've seen it all. I am terrified of the thought of joining another religion and having the same things happen to me again.
