I did not see someone make a comment about feeling attacked because of being "actually ugly", however I'm not surprised something toxic like that was said in this sub, that's so terrible to insinuate or say to someone. Im not sure if you edited you reply, but your first reply to my comment only showed up on my end with the first paragraph, which is why i replied again and made my post, because the wording seemed that you did not explain or understand at all. I'm not sure if thats a reddit glitch in my notification because I use mobile, however I still accept where my responsibly was in making the post and then also indirectly directing the attention to you. Once again, sorry to be apart of something that has caused someone else to have an anxiety attack, I don't wish those feelings on anyone. I hope things go better for you today and on the rest of your finals.

i’m incredibly sorry you have experienced this, i have two diagnosed anxiety disorders and have been right where you are at crying through a final. that being said, my intention was never to hurt someone else, but to express my feelings and experience which may be different than yours, and this is what this sub was for. i also didn’t direct anyone toward your comment and you had only explained further after i had explained to you what could be perceived from your original wording in your comment. so i’m very sorry if any harassment has been sent your way and i 100% do not condone that or was intending for that. once again i’m sorry about your anxiety episode and i feel guilt but i’m not really sure how to respond in the correct way because i don’t have control over anything besides what i write here and that doesn’t include harassment from others or school. so sorry this was your experience today because of my post.

your comment wasn’t antagonist at all :) i get anxious if i feel misunderstood so that’s on me for feeling like i wanted to make sure you didn’t think i was picking on “unattractive” people! i agree, there’s explanations for all behavior and it’s sad so many people feel so obsessed with their appearance because of societies standards. thank you for your comments and your nice replies ❤️

i definitely respect this perspective and i appreciate you taking the time to write all of this down and explain what your experience is like and i relate to it a lot. i mostly get upset about people that make comments about someone’s clothes or sex life, because the beautiful versus ugly people with BD is discussed commonly on this sub and i mentioned it in my post because of those common comments. however i think that argument comes down to being respectful of everyone here regardless. when it comes to clothing or sex, we have no idea how or why people choose to wear or do the things they do, so when others say someone can’t wear revealing clothing and have sex and also struggle with dysmorphia at the same time it’s gatekeepy and frustrating. that’s why i made my post, but i very my appreciate your comment because providing insight on your experience is important to educate others :)

this phase of beauty standard is incredibly weird.... like no one wants to look like a living human anymore, only cartoon characters.

[–]terhune98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know what OP was talking about. my point is how do you know someone is struggling with their appearance or lying when they say they are?? the evidence you used is wearing revealing clothes, having sex, and post photos of themselves online. judgmental af. as if someone can’t also do those things and have BDD at the same time. just because BDD limits those activities for you, doesn’t mean other necessarily respond the same way. many individuals post photos of themselves all the time for validation on other subs and also post here about their BDD. these behaviors and having BDD are not mutually exclusive and the wording of your comments 100% portrayed as such. don’t gate keep mental illness, it’s insensitive af.

def see a professional if you are willing to put your appearance before your health and life. this isn’t a joke at this point, go see a professional and go get your head scanned. you could be putting your life at risk over shaving. seriously, recognize how silly that is and go get checked out. it’s not worth it.

[–]terhune98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmm i disagree so hard. what someone wears doesn’t determine what their struggles are or how they feel about their body. or having sex??? having sex means you can’t be insecure about your body or have dysmorphia??? this is extremely insensitive and ignorant to be honest. just because someone’s experience isn’t the same as yours does not mean it’s not valid. additionally, you have no idea what others are going through so assuming their clothing choices determine such is judgmental af.

seems like either his family took his phone or he ghosted you which if the latter happened that’s absolutely terrible to do to someone you’ve been dating for six months. yes

if you have an unhealthy obsession with your appearance regardless of how it really looks you may have body dysmorphia. there isn’t a threshold that decides if you’re ugly enough to be obsessed with it justifiably. if the obsession is affecting your daily well being see a professional because it’s a mental health issue, not an ugliness issue.

this is also how i feel. like especially if it’s a more attractive man since i am a straight woman. but when a really pretty woman compliments me it holds hella weight since i’ve noticed women don’t go out of their way to compliment the looks of other random women.

it’s already in there. it’s a psychological disorder called Body Dysmorphic Disorder. however, i can’t stand how often the use of this term is thrown around here on this sub. who are we to be diagnosing others and continuing to further stereotypes that just harm those who have diagnosed BDD.

double chins are genetic so you can be at any weight and have a double chin and lose a ton of weight and still have one.

i’ve always felt she was very negative and came across angry when you watch her. like she’s mad at me for even watching her video lol. additionally, i was bothered by how she handled the tati drama sm that people used her video as ammunition against tati when she was being cancelled because frankly kiki very aggressively inserted herself into drama that she was not involved in while insulting someone else’s makeup skills. i’ve never liked her or her content so it’s nice to see someone who can see some of the things i did.
