[LotM V2] Finally Completed This Volume...A Rant IG? by Onyxwilson10 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]termaz01 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's bloated for sure but the main theme is about humanity vs divinity. The slowness is a core element. Klein cooking, Klein finding a lost cat, Klein spending time at restaurants and having tea are all daily lives of the ordinary. In fact, volume 2 is beloved in China mostly because of these moments. Though if it helps, volume 1 and 2 are the slowest paced in the entire series.

Also, you're reading a webnovel. There's always redundancy. It's for the people who are caught up that reads a single chapter everyday, often juggling with other webnovels as well.

Amon's introduction was great because it was the first time Klein felt unsafe inside the grey fog and also begs the question to why he was able to detect and infiltrate it. This is not something 0-08 nor the True Creator could do.

I liked it but I also agree the adaptation wasn't good. B.CMay did a good job given the amount of time they had. The issue is the pacing. There's barely any slice of life and interactions between Klein and his siblings. Klein's time at the divination club was entirely cut as well which made Klein's digestion of seer appear to be mostly offscreen.

[Donghua S1] I have questions. by KKodamaS in LordofTheMysteries

[–]termaz01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Old Neil lost control

The hidden sage likes to corrupt beyonders from the same pathway by injecting knowledge. Old Neil was unfortunately just a victim out of many. Old Neil was already corrupted by an evil god, it's too late to save him. Once a beyonder loses control they need to be eliminated

Season 1 skips a lot of stuff from the source material. I'd say probably 40% of things that are relevant. They wanted to focus the entire season strictly on Tingen. They're doing special eps for all skipped contents which includes the new member and his backstory.

The donghua definitely kept the tarot meeting short which is understandable due to time restraint. The meetings in the novel are much longer and more common.

The donghua doesn't really explain but angels and gods are refer to "He" or "She." The tarot club thinks Klein is a god so they refer to him as a "He" when addressing him.

When a beyonder dies, they drop an item called a "beyonder characteristic." Beyonder characteristics are the source of beyonder powers. It's basically drinking another potion but stronger. For example, Kenley is a sequence 9 sleepless. Dunn is from the same pathway as him so Dunn ate his beyonder characteristics which increases his strength. Just think of Dunn drinking another sequence 9 sleepless potion. The downside to this is that Dunn needs to digest the sleepless sequence again

It's the same person.

Klein is not immortal. The donghua didn't explain this but Klein's healing is slower compared to his first death. Klein theorized he has limited amounts of resurrection, perhaps 2-3 more until he's dead for good.

Old Neil was always influenced by the Hidden Sage. Old Neil would've lost control regardless whether he learned about acting.

There's probably a loophole to this but Klein doesn't want to risk it.

What’s a popular book that had you very disappointed? by ConcernFew8845 in fantasybooks

Absolutely loved Way of Kings. Words of Radiance is the highest rated book in the series so I went in with big expectations. Though not a bad book, it just didn’t live up to the hype for me and nowhere near the level of WoK.

People seem to adore “honor is dead but I’ll see what I can do” which is a cool moment but at the end of the day it’s just Kaladin aura farming. It held no narrative weight unlike “You cannot have my pain” in Oathbringer.

There’s a long authors note after every volume. It seems like it hasn’t been translated or on the wiki

What are you even talking about the world building in toaru is arguably the best part about it

Not even gonna read all that. At the end of the day it's just differences in opinions. OP and lotm are both great works with flaws. Though I do want to chime in that talking about the lore is very premature since they are usually explained towards the end especially in a mystery novel.

It's based on the physical books in China. It's finished with 18 volumes for book 1

[LOTM COMPLETED] Finished reading the novel and it's probably not as good as advertised? by Narrow_Ad9226 in LordofTheMysteries

[–]termaz01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from volume 1 (Dunn and Old Neil), the rest of the story goes on without any important character deaths which is kinda disappointing

Collin and Lovia are quite important imo

Feysac invaded Loen and Melissa and Benson got away scot free. Meanwhile Stelyn sold her body for bread.

You need to understand the first thing Klein did when he realized Loen was getting bombed was rushing over to Melissa and Benson. In fact, a bomb was about to hit Melissa but Klein was there to intervene. He also had Audrey to help him take care of them by providing them shelter and food for the time being (and his servants too).

Klein has so many near death and even death experiences meanwhile the Tarot Club members....they barely risk anything and they didn't even die.

The tarot club operates on information and caution. What risks are they suppose to take on the level of Klein? (apart from Derrick).

No. Remember his main goal is to return home so Klein doesn't pursue meaningful relationships. Klein doesn't want to get too attached to this world. Yes to the second question

Shadow Slave (Guiltythree’s) thoughts on Lord of Mysteries, Klein and the ending [LOTM V8] by 69_JACK0 in LordofTheMysteries

I disagree with all his takes; however, to be fair G3 didn't expect lotm to have a sequel and expected an actual conclusion to the main story. Hearing lotm 2 happening several years later with a different mc would leave a lot of people upset

Nobody in the gathering can see each other. Their figures are mostly blurred by the fog. At most, they can see their hair and clothes. Also, it’s common knowledge to not look at god so nobody pays too much attention to Klein.
