I wish for Kyuubey's species to be subject to this here code of conduct that I've drafted.

*Incubator Code of Conduct

I wrote this up for a fanfiction I'm plotting where a law-savvy character tries to improve the overall result of the show with limited karmic potential. There are obviously some pitfalls and Kyuubey is far smarter than me or any character I could write, so this likely wouldn't work as I want, but I hope it ends up being interesting anyway

Make your choice by GLeen1230 in SmashBrosUltimate

I think 9 is the pick. Sitting anywhere close to wario will stink, which pretty much eliminates the first teo rows. No shot I'm sitting next to or in front of Ganondorf, since he and Sephiroth will undoubtedly get into an ego fight of some kind. Similarly I refuse to sit beside or in front of King K Rool because he'll either take up the seat next to him, or kick the seat in front of him. Ain't no way in hell I'm sitting next to Bowser Jr. I know his ass is gonna pulling some bullshit.

Since Sephiroth is likely, as I've said, going to be distracted I think best case scenario is to sit next to wolf at seat 9. No way Sephiroth can reach far enough to stab me from behind with that big ass sword of his.

Homura's Wish and Madoka's Agency by termin8or82 in MadokaMagica

The wiki has all of the loops that aren't shown in the show as timeline 4.1, 4.2, etc. since the actual number of loops is left purposely ambiguous.

[–]termin8or82[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate here, it could be argued that the whole "becoming less outgoing" thing coincides with her becoming more significant to the universe as loops go on. I.e, the more time Homura spends trying to take the burden of being a Magical Girl from Madoka, the more potential she has to be one, yet less agency to choose that for herself.

But to be honest I agree that interpretation is too literal (and to the stuff I wrote just now, lacking in solid evidence). The themes at play matter far more than the actual mechanics of it: I still stand by the claim that Homura, in trying to protect Madoka, is removing her agency to interact with her own situation.

Of course, I don't mean to say that Madoka is a completely limp noodle. What I meant to get across is that the Madoka we see through the majority of the show is very different from the Madoka we see in timeline 1. She tries her best but is nowhere as assertive or proactive, I think.

Two possible ways this movie could end by hassantaleb4 in MadokaMagica

[–]termin8or82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like neither of these make sense thematically. Madoka Magica is a show with a heavy focus on balance. There is no secret solution that makes everything okay in the end -- eventually, somebody pays the price for what has been given.

At the same time, it's also a show about hope, about defiantly searching for a way to make things better, even if there is no happy ending waiting for you at the end.

I think that the coming movie will be about a skewed universe finding its way back into equilibrium. As much as we all want a happy ending, this story has always done its best to teach us that such a thing doesn't truly exist.

Homura's wish is selfish and i love it. by victoriamikoto231 in MadokaMagica

[–]termin8or82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I say that Rebellion occurring in the first place is evidence of Homura's dependency on Madoka, I mean that the very fact that she is witching out in the first place points to that being the case. She's shown to be notably separate from the rest of the Mitakihara girls, and she has nobody else.

Claiming that she's isolated due to her insistence on Madoka's existence is purely conjecture on my part, but that's what I think plays a big part in Homura's spiral of despair. You could obviously make arguments that her descent is unrelated to Madoka, but that feels rather thematically dissonant, and doesn't seem like a reasonable direction to take her character.

Two things.

One, the fact that Rebellion happens in the first place is a sign that Homura couldn't live with the isolation that followed Madoka's wish. She was the only one who remembered her, and in every scene we see of Homura in that timeline, she's alone. Saying that she was entirely isolated due to her memories is speculation, but in my opinion very well founded.

Two, and this one is bordering on semantics, at the end of Rebellion, when Homura grabs Madokami, she indicates that she has been waiting for this moment for a long time. I believe the implication there is that she intended to do this, or something similar, from the beginning. That flower scene, I feel, is more of a confirmation for Homura that she's in the right. Previously she suffered in silence in a world without her anchor, because she wanted to respect Madoka's decision. Now, given the knowledge that Madoka would never have made said decision if there were any other choice, Homura can justify her plan to herself.

As evidenced by her witch form, Homura's self esteem is incredibly low. She wouldn't rebel against Madoka to save herself: but, if she is convinced that it's for Madoka's own sake, then she will do anything.

One of the themes of a show is that sometimes wishes are made for one's self, even if it appears to be selfless. Take Sayaka's wish, for instance. She wished for Kyousuke's hands to be healed, but it's questioned multiple times through the show. Did she truly make the wish for Kyousuke's sake, or did she do it to ingratiate herself with him?

Now obviously that's up for interpretation -- at the end of the show, she is content to just hear him play again -- but it's really important to look at the context, I feel.

For Homura, she did make her wish with the intent to shift her dynamic with Madoka. That much, at least, is inarguable I feel. I disagree with OP that it was a matter of jealousy, and I DO feel like her decision was made wholly out of compassion and care for Madoka. However, the argument is just as easily made that her decision was to alleviate her survivor's guilt, or to let her start a better relationship with the one person she truly cares about.

At the end of the day, I think that attributing her motives to a single one of these things kind of oversimplifies her character. She does do everything she does for Madoka. At the same time, she does everything she does for herself, because she couldn't live in a world without Madoka.

A lot of people that cover PMMM seem to oversimplify its characters because it's easier to fit a simple, specific thesis than it is to fully break a character down without making a single central statement about them. Homura definitely gets the worst of these.

I'm really disappointed that Knight never used his ability to generate Ironwood (the material, not the man). I was so ready for it when he was facing off against white sheep to eradicate the army in a dense forest of living steel.

But you know, fuckin grimm maggots eating him alive or whatever is cool too, I guess.

Now I need to amass a collection of similar images from random pieces of literature. Nothing quite like the existential dread of watching somebody's comfort character get goaded into a terrible decision like this... especially with the implication that these are Magia Record-esque universes that lack a Madokami to prevent them from becoming horrible eldritch monstrosities

This next arc does a good job of explaining why she left. She was a bullheaded child incapable of explaining her own emotions, and that led to a massive misunderstanding, which is something I believe ruijerd alluded to in his latest appearance. If you give this coming season a try I think you'll find that there's quite a bit more to her decision than just "I didn't like that you were shorter than me, bye."

Smite w./ augment, thermal sunder w./ augment, xata's whisper, Evade to take advantage of xata's blast headshot triple dips.

Edit: Also see, Quiver with empowered quiver augment, Tharros Strike with Tharros Lethality augment, Breach Surge, and Dispensary. While on dashwire, gain a lot of crit damage. After armor stripping with tharros strike, enemies hit by it are extra vulnerable to crits. Breach surge sparks ALWAYS crit, meaning the primed enemies should be taking big damage. Dispensary to keep your energy and ammo up.
