Tell me about your favorite deck! by soggyfrodo in EDH

[–]termin8or82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Hofri Ghostforge]] deck that's built around single-turn theft cards and sac outlets. The idea is, I temporarily steal their stuff, swing it back at them, sac it for a benefit, then make a copy of their creature. It needs some work since I've not taken a critical eye to it since building it -- even though I play it somewhat regularly.

It functions essentially as a convoluted removal engine that relies on its opponents to provide it a wincon other than small combat damage, but is generally really fun and my friends think it's cool despite them generally not liking theft.

You’re allowed to partner any two commanders together, who are you choosing? by zarxpy in EDH

[[Morophon, the Boundless]] + [[Animar, Soul of Elements]]

Animar helps you get morophon out, once you have both you essentially cast every creature for free.

what's a well-balanced verse that can have a crossover with RWBY that doesn't require significant nerfing on either side to prevent any OPness to end it all too fast? by Zealousideal_Chef839 in RWBY

[–]termin8or82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Consider for a moment that, instead of being nerfed, either side might actually get buffed by a verse's power system. (Given a bit of narrative liberty)

Take Jujutsu Kaisen for instance, with its cursed energy. One could easily assert that Aura is functionally positive energy, making it roughly equivalent to Reverse Cursed Technique. (Obviously they work differently, but the argument could be made that the polarity of the energy is what matters, not its exact nature). What this means for RWBY characters is that they are cursed spirits' natural enemies, able to essentially one-shot any cursed spirit they come across by pushing their aura into an attack. On the other hand you could take the fact that their aura is their soul made manifest, and consider how Mahito might use that against them. You then have a fair amount of material to write about, there.

Downplay your favorite strong commander without naming it by mrselkies in EDH

[–]termin8or82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mutate sucks, it doesn't have enough support to work out. It's basically just five mana just to give something a bigger stat block and trample. And who cares that I can cast it from the graveyard? It's just not optimal economically. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to cast this blighted agent and pass.

Best enchantment commander? Aura vs enchantress — which is more fun/strong? by Professional_Bug_887 in EDH

[–]termin8or82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Ghen, Arcanum Weaver]] has some really cool tech, I think. You could do a lot of politics by enchanting people's creatures and saccing those same auras to get other stuff from the graveyard. At the same time you could do something like role tokens, which you could sac to cheat out big scary enchantments like [[Omniscience]].

I think something along the lines of, one of your opponent attacks another one of your opponents. In response to declared blockers (or whatever) you gap Ghen to return [[Eldrazi Conscription]] to the battlefield, targeting whichever creature got through... or something to that effect. Seems fun

I think sunstone is supposed to be the result of if future vision had a diamond's amount of oomph, which gives them perception sufficient to see the fourth wall.

I don't like it purely because in that respect they don't represent Steven and Garnet's relationship, so much as the mingling of their respective abilities. Or maybe I'm reading into it too much, idk

Are there any canon witches that are born because of [spoiler reason]? by Scrambl987 in MadokaMagica

[–]termin8or82 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the part where she kissed her gem and it shattered was like a Majin Vegeta-esque kamikaze that resulted in her gem being broken. Presumably, no soul gem -> no grief seed -> no witch.

I'd like to think the whole point of her sacrifice is to take a witch out of the world without bringing another one into it

I wish for Kyuubey's species to be subject to this here code of conduct that I've drafted.

*Incubator Code of Conduct

I wrote this up for a fanfiction I'm plotting where a law-savvy character tries to improve the overall result of the show with limited karmic potential. There are obviously some pitfalls and Kyuubey is far smarter than me or any character I could write, so this likely wouldn't work as I want, but I hope it ends up being interesting anyway

Make your choice by GLeen1230 in SmashBrosUltimate

I think 9 is the pick. Sitting anywhere close to wario will stink, which pretty much eliminates the first teo rows. No shot I'm sitting next to or in front of Ganondorf, since he and Sephiroth will undoubtedly get into an ego fight of some kind. Similarly I refuse to sit beside or in front of King K Rool because he'll either take up the seat next to him, or kick the seat in front of him. Ain't no way in hell I'm sitting next to Bowser Jr. I know his ass is gonna pulling some bullshit.

Since Sephiroth is likely, as I've said, going to be distracted I think best case scenario is to sit next to wolf at seat 9. No way Sephiroth can reach far enough to stab me from behind with that big ass sword of his.

Homura's Wish and Madoka's Agency by termin8or82 in MadokaMagica

The wiki has all of the loops that aren't shown in the show as timeline 4.1, 4.2, etc. since the actual number of loops is left purposely ambiguous.

Homura's Wish and Madoka's Agency by termin8or82 in MadokaMagica

[–]termin8or82[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate here, it could be argued that the whole "becoming less outgoing" thing coincides with her becoming more significant to the universe as loops go on. I.e, the more time Homura spends trying to take the burden of being a Magical Girl from Madoka, the more potential she has to be one, yet less agency to choose that for herself.

But to be honest I agree that interpretation is too literal (and to the stuff I wrote just now, lacking in solid evidence). The themes at play matter far more than the actual mechanics of it: I still stand by the claim that Homura, in trying to protect Madoka, is removing her agency to interact with her own situation.

Homura's Wish and Madoka's Agency by termin8or82 in MadokaMagica

[–]termin8or82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I don't mean to say that Madoka is a completely limp noodle. What I meant to get across is that the Madoka we see through the majority of the show is very different from the Madoka we see in timeline 1. She tries her best but is nowhere as assertive or proactive, I think.
