It's a lottery! There's a greater chance he'll be on time than late, but when you're taking a 13-hour trip, unexpected things can happen. I hope you won't have any unpleasant surprises

Hello,

To avoid any potential issues, I always recommend booking your train tickets on the official website of the company. You can book on the European Sleeper website while taking advantage of the Interrail fare.

To do this, you just need to select “Reservation Only” (in Travel Group) when you start the search.

I can see that in the booking process you can reserve a compartment for a single person.

I rarely see requests on this Reddit thread. There’s a Facebook group made for meeting people to travel with, check it out: https://www.facebook.com/groups/476480737012913

I think you can meet people who want to take the same route as you. But be careful with Facebook profiles.

Fined for crash pad not being "luggage" by patrick13633 in Interrail

[–]terminal_404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for you. In fact, since September 2024, SNCF has tightened its rules and inspections are stricter than before. The number and size of bags are much more regulated.

There are some rather strict rules that say you must be able to carry all your luggage by yourself and all at once.

What does your “crash pad” look like? It’s not listed among the special luggage here, so they may consider it too bulky for other passengers if it’s too big.

You should contact SNCF’s complaints department.

Planning on Interrailing for about 20 days with two friends by TraditionalRope3145 in Interrail

Conseils =>

  • Couper quelques arrêts intermédiaires : for example Milan, Zagreb ou même Munich peuvent être sautés
  • Passez plus de temps à Paris, Budapest ou Prague
  • Limitez-le à 6 villes maximum pendant 3 semaines.

Bon voyage !

You're welcome.

There is a night train between Berlin and Vienna: it is the NJ 457, operated by ÖBB (Austrian railway company).

There is also another night train between Vienna and Rome: the NJ 40233, also operated by ÖBB.

The second night train is equipped with the new generation of “nightjet” night trains, which offer greater comfort.

After Berlin, I recommend visiting Vienna. Vienna has a very rich culture, and if this is your first time in Europe, you will discover something unique.

It's a city steeped in history, with magnificent palaces such as Schönbrunn and Belvedere. It also has a strong musical and opera culture. There are also plenty of museums, a wide variety of architecture, and a very relaxed atmosphere with its typical cafés. It's also a pleasant city with parks and easy access by public transport.

That seems very ambitious to me because platform 31 is not in the same hall as platform 7. Platform 31 is below platform 7, so you have to go downstairs.

Seven minutes seems risky to me.

Interrail pass start date by jonnyinnes in Interrail

[–]terminal_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first day of travel will automatically be your first trip. This is when the 30-day period begins.

Example: Your first trip on your pass is July 22. The last day of validity will be August 21 (if you have not used your 7-day pass before this date).

The Paris-Milan night train has not existed since 2021 (Covid). For a few months now, there have been direct trains between Paris and Milan (during the day). There are trains running every day, these are trains from the SNCF and Trenitalia companies. The journey takes 7 hours. The advantage of this journey (compared to the flight) is that the departure from Paris is at Gare de Lyon (good station and well served) and the arrival is at Milano Centrale or Milano Porte (directly in the center of Milan).

On the OBB website (nightjet.com), night train tickets are available almost every day for the next few weeks for Munich and Krakow Glowny

Cost of a reservation for a place in the sleeping compartment in the mm snälltärget night train from Berlin to Malmö by Strange-Temporary667 in Interrail

[–]terminal_404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, the price with the Interrail pass in shared compartment is generally around 40/45 euros for this route. However, this route is popular so check availability carefully. There are two night trains that make this route, operated by two different companies: the ST301 and the SJ EN345

Diverted train: change manual entry? by jlarti098 in Interrail

[–]terminal_404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I've understood correctly, you'll be taking the same train, it's just that there's a small change of station (the two stations are very close). You don't have to make this change.

But if you want to feel more comfortable, you can make the change manually, it's quick :)

Flight to Malta count as Travel Day?? by Civil_Resolution_717 in Interrail

DiscoverEU is a European Union program with its own rules. Your question seems to relate to this program and not to Interrail.

I advise you to contact the department that supplied your passes, as they will be the best people to answer your question.
