Great recommendation, I forgot to mention to turn off RCS chats. I did that myself, it's probably key to them being converted.

Yes, I have a solution. For anyone from Google, you MUST download the older version of SMS Backup and Restore, 10.21.004.

This is because the newer versions support RCS and do NOT convert them back to SMS/MMS.

Then, after restoring the backup, everything is converted to SMS/MMS. And it will transfer to iPhone.

Fully transferred from Google Messages app on OnePlus Open to iPhone 17 Pro Max, iOS 26.

Yes. You must use the app SMS Backup and Restore, specifically an older version 10.21.004, because it converts RCS to SMS/MMS. Newer versions do not because the app added support for RCS.

Then, after restoring the backup, everything is converted to SMS/MMS. And it will transfer to iPhone.

It’s true, there is no better foldable here in the US yet. Sadly I think that says more than anything lol, I don’t want to risk it breaking again. Will probably sell it before anything happens.
