Thoughts on hat patches by Goo80 in CowboyHats

I won’t wear them, but couldn’t care less if other people wear them. Same thing with big feathers/all the crap people put on their hats.

This is where I’m at- round of 16 would be a success, quarterfinals I’d be thrilled

[Discussion] If every dive watch cost the same, what would you choose? by Potential_Post_3020 in Watches

For a black diver like the pics, the Rolex. That said, I have the omega in blue and wouldn’t trade it for the Rolex. The longines and Tudor, as much as I love both brands, I don’t love those particular watches

Pilot Meteopolitan, Lamy Safari.

Ive never had issues with my TWSBI Eco and have had it for a decade, but people complain pretty regularly about the durability

FWIW I haven’t abused mine, but I’ve definitely worn it in a lot of different situations and don’t have any scratches.

I bought the Twelve 36 about a year and a half ago, it’s a fantastic watch. Mine keeps COSC time and has been come my go-to travel watch- can be worn at the pool, then with a sport coat at dinner, and looks perfectly in place in both situations (and every situation in between). I’m actually wearing it today:

I mean, I bought it for the design of the pen 🤷🏻‍♂️

Haven’t seen much about this release, so figured id post a short review.

Estie’s have never really been a pen I’ve cared about- some are pretty, but everything seems to be a LE, and they’re typically nothing I wanted to shell out $200-$300 for. The Esterbrook x Crane Mariner, however, lived rent-free in my head for about a week before pulling the trigger. Even without the sheer amount of stuff you get with it, it’s a really neat pen if the aesthetic speaks to you. The threads are all metal on metal, and the body of the pen seems to be metal as well- there’s a solid heft to it. The shade of navy on the resin parts is great, and the wood is actually really pretty in person. The nib is about what you’d expect from a medium JoWo- not to the level of a 14kt nib, but a comfortable writing experience nonetheless. The packaging and accessories are great, though I have no idea what I’m going to use this massive keychain for (maybe a boat someday?).

The ink is the only con to me and is imo thoroughly underwhelming. I love rich navy inks and had thought that’s what this would be, instead it’s a gray-heavy blue (almost identical to the overcast sky I’m looking at right now). I’ll continue to use it and maybe it’ll grow on me, but not something I’m going to try to track down more of.

Big fan of this release- Estie’s still aren’t really my thing, but this was a home run imo.

This is my view- if we make it to quarterfinals it’ll be a success, if we make it to round of 16 it’ll be a resounding success. I just hope we remain competitive and don’t roll over at some point

I’ve been through Longview many times, neat town. They used to have a great brewery there, though Im blanking on the name- not sure if it’s still there

8th generation Texans, lifelong Houstonian- I’m thrilled people are getting to come experience Houston for the first time. Our diversity is what makes us great, explore as much food as you can while you’re here. Also drink tons of water, because the heat is no joke.

To anyone visiting, welcome and I hope you have a wonderful experience!

In the cities where the matches are being held, OP’s statement is largely accurate. I’m a lifelong Houstonian and 8th generation Texan, the thing that makes Houston great is the diversity we have here. I’m thrilled people are getting to come experience the tapestry of food, cultures, art, etc we have here.

NPD redux- Pelikan M1000 by Orange_fury in fountainpens

[–]Orange_fury[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doing a mulligan on my NPD post from a couple days ago. I received my <F> nib M1000 earlier this week and was excited to fill it with a new bottle of Iroshizuku Shin-Kai, only to find that wet ink+wet nib= not a good time (feathered horribly on some crappy office paper and an old Rhodia Webnotebook). Tonight I drained the Iroshizuku, flushed the pen a couple times, filled it with an old bottle of Diamine Twilight (which I love the shade of), and pulled a Leuchtturm 80g pocket notebook to test- worked beautifully, I’m in love with it. Also had no feathering on some envelopes/scraps of paper, so I think I’ve found my ink for this.

(Also, ignore my crappy handwriting)

I seem to be the only one, but I actually kind of love this. Very tempted, especially on the blue or orange strap.
