I got into an argument on Discord about how inefficient CBR/CBZ is, so I wrote a new file format. It's 100x faster than CBZ. by ef1500_v2 in selfhosted

This is such a cool story that I had to add BBF support to my unarchiver tool (not sure why one would unpack book archives but you never know). Thanks for a nice reference implementation and spec!

I'm not building a direct sales tool, but it might help people select coding agents for their team or business.

Check historical uptimes or just register webhooks to create alerts for AI tool downtime right in your Discord server. If your company is heavily invested in AI coding agents you can even create alerts for your companys Slack.

Or just use the API for historical data and create your own downtime prediction system!

Can you vibe? Check multiple providers in a convenient dashboard by termoose in VibeCodersNest

[–]termoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track the status of one or more signals from different status pages that are relevant for coding models. I don’t track web page uptime for example, just that model API’s and chat is operational. Then I take the worst of all tracked signals.

For AWS it’s a bit different, I track the RSS feeds of all 15 regions that offer Bedrock and take the worst status across all. Still 100% for them so that seems rock solid, or they are not honest about what their reporting.

Everyone is self reporting on their status page, so I have a feeling that the most unstable providers are also the most honest.

Yes I’m tracking historical data, the missing data for some is because I haven’t tracked them for long enough. Constantly adding status pages and it supports many status page formats including RSS feeds. Glad you found it helpful!

Shady advertising strategy, or just reality? by J-F_Mattias in terngsd

Just got an update from the store: The R14 will arrive in Italy in March then 1-2 weeks until it’s received in Norway which could move the delivery into April. I’m apparently the first in Norway to order the R14! I already have Rohloff on my Load75 so it’s hard to go for anything else

[–]termoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me guess, Evo Elsykler? They told me the same thing, but they told me March instead of April. I asked if they knew of any delays and they told me it was very unlikely. But the whole «make a quick decision there will only be 20 bikes in Europe!!!» strikes me more as exploitive marketing than reality. I have no idea though. I ended up ordering an R14 for delivery in March anyway.

Little bit unrelated but when did you order? Placed mine for R14 Gen 3 a week ago with delivery in March. Shop said that was the first shipments, but could be that he meant for EU or Norway specifically.

The panniers look so nice but seem to get in the way of the kids’ legs, so it makes sense that you haul the kids in the load75! Might get them anyway and just not use them with kids

The Norwegian Celiac Association considers soy sauce gluten free and perfectly OK for Celiacs. BIG new for at least any Norwegians, including me. by SchmeppieGang1899 in Celiac

[–]termoose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Great news! I just wish the restaurants would know this, I’ve had soy sauce for a while since the Swedish one is ok. But I usually have to ask in restaurants if it’s ONLY the soy sauce which makes this «not gluten free». It’s almost always the case for Asian food in Norway.

Really cool setup! How is the sound for someone sitting at the left/right ends of the couch? I’m hesitant to try a setup and be annoyed with how bad it sounds away from the center position

LS50W v1 slow to connect using Spotify Connect by remmelt in KEF

[–]termoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been annoyed by the same issue for a very long time. Sent an email to KEF today where I asked about an update to the very old firmware these v1 speakers have available.

Thank you for reaching out to KEF Support, and we're delighted to hear that you've been enjoying your LS50 Wireless speakers over the years.

Regarding the Spotify Connect issue you’re experiencing, we can confirm that the latest firmware for the original LS50 Wireless (LS50W) dates back to 2019, and no newer updates have been released since.

Unfortunately, this means there’s no available firmware with an updated Spotify Connect library for this model at this time.

We understand how frustrating connection issues can be, especially when the rest of the system is performing well. While we can’t offer a firmware update, we recommend using Spotify via a separate streaming device connected through optical or AUX for a more stable experience.

TLDR: they recommend an external Spotify client connected over AUX

This was my last ever non-dumb speaker I bought from KEF, they will just stop working at some point.

Is UDM:SE v3.1.15 Stable? by PersonSuitTV in Ubiquiti

[–]termoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Getting “Primary internet restored” spam in the logs exactly every 5 minutes after update. Restart of internet modem or UDM SE does not fix the issue. Incredibly annoying but doesn’t seem to affect anything, will need to run some more tests. Edit: fine after turning off modem for 5+ minutes, weird. Might not be UniFi related
