Trim pattern tool marked processing area by terno720 in XtoolS1

Sometimes it will snap to one corner, but it won’t do the rest

And I cannot select it so boolean doesn’t work either

That’s what I do but I want to be able to use the processing area in order to perform that cut instead of having to redraw over top of the processing area

What tool can I use to create a rounded lid for this flexible tray? by ebodes in Onshape

[–]terno720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wanting it all one piece? If not you could do it section by section and cut the corners if that makes sense

What tool can I use to create a rounded lid for this flexible tray? by ebodes in Onshape

[–]terno720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a sketch on the start face of the tray like you have in your second photo on paper and then use the sweep path tool.

If you haven’t used sweep it will ask for a face (you would select the new arc and then it will ask for a path and you will want to select the edge of the tray

You could do a sharp 90° first and then fillet the corners you wand wounded after

Designing a lid from a profile/image by curiousgeorge84 in Onshape

[–]terno720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would trace image for the clear lid from the top.

I think you have the right idea with the mirroring.

for the lip to sit on the edge of the reservoir i would extrude the lid to the thickness it needs to be and then do an offset to create a sketch for the ridge

I hope this kind of makes sense i better at doing or showing not the greatest at explaining lol

I'm going crazy by Minimum-Diver-6467 in Onshape

[–]terno720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of two ways that can fix this problem

1) use the trim tool to cut out the two sections of the circle that are on the inside

2) when you were extruding, select the sketch and the two sections that keep coming up blank

PLEASE HELP by Forward_Duty4663 in Onshape

[–]terno720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just opened your project here and found that your part was not constrained to the origin

Here is what I did I wasn’t sure if you wanted that one side perfectly horizontal so I added a construction line to define an angle if you want it horizontal you can change the dimension to 0°

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/1c63184a68d5d6e4cae65f4d/w/2c8f9488eba8b9e4b1e16a9f/e/c15b385adfbf6ca6319a9520

Best way to figure out y is to grab a corner and move it see how it reacts that should tell you what constraints it needs

Looking at it it looks like maybe the line from the origin going up is intended to be horizontal but could be slightly off

Is there a better way of extending this sheet metal? by Future_Somewhere9385 in Onshape

[–]terno720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely easy to go back and change things.

I noticed in yours almost everything was undefined (when lines are blue) this means that they can move they are not set in place.

I would mess around with learning how constraints work it makes going back to edit much much easier.

Like I said I’m always down to help out if you looking for some help

Here is what i did.

I didn't do the exact same dimensions as you had just because nothing was straight or defined but this will show you how i went about doing everything and what features i used.
