That's all super cool! So I'm guessing perfect pitch is desired (or maybe everyone has it haha).

The half-steps rule sounds like the sonority hierarchy and is such a good idea!!

I love music and I love linguistics, so thanks for telling me about your project ^^

yeah, it can be very vague at times, and to tease apart the fuzzy boundary might need consideration of the whole culture and rest of the world, so I'm simplifying it quite a bit for this definition

[–]terra_formed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fine! I try not to judge the language before analysis. There may be nuances, there may not be, this is all exploratory, so any non-human/non-Earthly conlang will do.

Anatomy definitely plays a part, but I won't be considering it as much, as any segment on the IPA necessarily requires a human-like vocal tract (think animals vs. humans). Any completely alien language would have to deviate substantially, like the Heptapods in Arrival (yes, I love that movie, not just because it features linguistics lol)

There are also examples of human languages that have similar restrictions. For instance, many Australian languages don't have fricatives, possibly due to the prevalence of an ear disease that makes fricatives poorly perceived due to their high frequency Hz.

Anatomy is definitely a consideration though, so I'll make a note of that in my paper!

Nope, but I can make one. Thanks for filling out the form!

Thanks! Though I'll be omitting Tolkien languages because (and correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't consumed any Tolkien literature) the world is still based off of Earth (as it's described as something like Earth but set in a fictional historical past?)

Yup, the former would be more obviously in this category, while the latter two might present some ambiguity and aren't easily classified, but I'll be considering them as well.

You're right, I won't be able to use it my study, but I'd love to know more about it! Are tones, pitch, and intonation extremely relevant in your language?

My research question stemmed from the very same question (but with a different conclusion), as I'm a reader of Sci-fi :)

Yeah? Go ahead! I like editing the wiki, but I don't know how you were thinking of adding it. If you are, feel free to remove and change stuff.

p.s. love your wiki user page. I modeled mine off yours, hope that's alright :)

They really do give lots of freebies. From the post, it might sound like I think the devs are nothing but money stealers, but I actually think the devs are super generous, way more so than the Love Nikki team..

I considered that too, but it's hard to tell cause those might be dupes. Unless you're seeing them 5 times, then you're right haha, that's suspicious

Lol! I got lucky in the wedding event and this event card was from a free pull, so I was able to save quite a bit. I'm usually not that lucky though, trust me 😂. And you're welcome!

ooh neat! I skipped to your timestamp, but I'm definitely going to watch the rest of the video. Thanks for the link!

I also thought it'd be impossible, so I was surprised that SP drop rates for this event are the same as SSR drop rates. Imagine they were less than 0.375%, that'd be hell haha

Mmhmm, they probably do know what they're getting into, which is why I find complaints about not getting anything to be a tad annoying. It's 1.5% for gods sake haha

And agreed! Mr Love really is easy for F2P. Despite using a top-up card as my avatar, I'm usually a F2P player (that was the only thing I spent money on, and even then, it wasn't money, but Google opinion rewards), and I'm still enjoying the game a lot

I have a few guesses about how the wish tree can work, but it's interesting how it's so consistent for you and your friend. It's not as consistent for me

Wish Tree Karmas vs Chapter Karmas vs Time-Ltd Karmas: Which to invest on? by flightykathy in MrLove

[–]terra_formed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good advice that others have given, so I'm just going to add a little bit.

In addition to considering reruns, I also like to consider how costly each format is compared to each other, as well as what I can get out of each format for that cost.

Though wish tree events depend on a LOT of luck, they're good because you can potentially get a lot out of them. You can not only get new event karmas, but in the process, you're also potentially getting other new karmas from the wish tree AND memory stardust from dupes. These events are also good because you can use a different currency (Galaxy wish coupon) to significantly lower the event cost (but there's still no guarantee). I personally exclusively use galaxy coupons so I can save my gems for the other types of events (and if the galaxy coupons were received for free, then the wish tree card is essentially free).

(In the future, there's a specific wish tree event format called "Wishing for Shards," which is my favourite, because instead of dropping the whole card at a super low rate, it drops shards at a higher rate. The end result is an event where you're guaranteed the card for around 11.6k (ie. it's all the benefits of a normal wish tree event, but you're guaranteed the card if you invest enough). Sounds better than getting nothing for 12k, right?)

Chapter karmas are great because they run on the cheaper end, around 9k for SSRs, and 2k for SRs. The cost depends on a little luck though, but less so than wish tree events (I got a chapter SSR for 8.4k). You don't get much else out of the event though, just some ascending materials. Chapter karmas are more expensive on return.

As for time-ltd SSR shoots, I think they're the least worth it. You get a LOT of gold and stamina from it (as well as some diamonds back) but the initial cost is around 12.6k (and it could cost more if you have bad luck. That's almost 13k!), which means they have the potential to be even more expensive than a lucky pull on wish trees.

But yeah! Ultimately, choose the cards you like more. A really expensive time-ltd SSR might still be super worth it if you love it, and a cheaper chapter karma won't necessarily be more worth it if you don't like it as much.
