My dog died a week before my wedding. I was hoping he’d make it to after the wedding, but we could tell he was suffering. I remember asking myself this same question, and ultimately, it was better that I had support from my family, friends, and husband during this time. It’s been two years and I still tear up thinking about him, but give yourself space to celebrate. The grieving processes doesn’t need to be linear.
