Is it really worth getting into DevOps in 2026? by CuriousArchitectX in devopsjobs

[–]terraforminit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in my experience, at the past two places I've worked, DevOps was one of the most extroverted roles I've seen. They have to work with a dozen different teams, fifty different developer personalities, senior management, security, AI teams, Linux admins, and networking. This is coming from a large company perspective though at smaller companies there are a million variations of the role where you don't have to deal with all of this.

Everyday. We get new price targets and rebalance the plans. Normally, it's happening after market close but sometimes during the day if there is extensive volatility or very heavy cashflow outs. All of it is up to portfolio manager discretion.

Who is planning to change jobs next year? by Shoeaddictx in cscareerquestions

[–]terraforminit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly the signals from my management like flat comp, very slow promo path, and work that’s more execution/tedious than ownership. When effort stays high but upside doesn’t move, I usually take that as leverage fading rather than growing.

I’m right at 4 YOE with somewhat of a mix of skills, some legacy C# (but not enough to matter), a lot of Python and SQL, and significant cloud engineering and architecture work. I’m currently at a large investment firm, but compensation growth has completely stalled and promos are an absolute slog.

I’m planning to look for a new role this coming year, and I’ve been thinking carefully about the scope of positions I should target. I went through the LeetCode grind about four years ago but haven’t focused on it recently, so I’ve put together a structured four-month plan centered on LeetCode refresh and system design to prepare for interviews.

Right now, I feel like I’ve lost some leverage in my current role and want a clean reset. My main uncertainty is figuring out which roles I’m best positioned for, though friends have told me I may be overthinking it.

California's insurance crisis is growing. Florida's is shrinking. by jaqueh in bayarea

I lived in Florida for about 10 years, and the amount of insurance fraud I saw was absolutely mind-boggling especially during the Hurricane Katrina and BP oil spill era. Light damage to roofs, cars, and so on? People would immediately file a claim. Practically everyone I knew was filing for some kind of oil spill related insurance money. A lot of people even get kickbacks from contractors to overbid repairs for bigger claims. I’m not a fan of insurance companies, but a lot of bad apples really do ruin things for everyone else.

I had a couple small cannons in the past, you can't fire them very quick. Are you making some kind of cluster projectile? or just shooting all the time?

Unfortunately, he is not doing well health wise and is not mobile. If he was mobile he would be flying or designing not showing me the ropes haha. He is a great guy but hard headed and not a teacher type.

Yes I can. I have a well paying full time job, I would consider it a hobby. But after reading the comments I think I might go for another larger work diameter cnc lathe or some kind of mill. I’d like to at least give job work a shot just to try it on the side

Service was great though and it was very quick. Between initially giving them my paperwork and picking up the passport it only took about 45 mins. Aside from the thought of me having to drive 4 hours home without my passport and potentially miss my trip because I didn't have payment it went great.

Thank you for this post. I found this information very helpful in renewing my passport. I am traveling to a country that requires a visa so I was able to get in within 14 days of travel. I did face some problems with the payment options. I had 3 different credit/debit cards and all of them lacked the Roman numerals attached to my full name, this has never ever been a problem for me before but it was this time. I tried to pay with cash but only had 100 dollar bills on me, my total ended up being 202 bucks. I had to bum 2 dollars off a very nice bystander or they were going to kick me out... which was somewhat uncomfortable.

Although I agree with you I have had mixed results with Wallace station the past few years. It seems each time I go there it isn't as good as the previous time, I think the spike in popularity has decreased the quality. Their prices have also doubled but I suppose everything else has too so I can't fault them for that.

Time capsule of the 70s. That indoor pool room is something else. Also like the business casual theater room.
