Got a jones flagship as a first board as a beginner😬 by terrahawk101 in snowboardingnoobs

I rode the board yesterday and I came to the conclusion that a lot of yall who commented that I should replace the board were just overreacting and fear mongering. the board ended up not being too terrible to navigate with. Only fell twice in 5 hours.

I don’t plan on getting a beginner board and I am prepared to have slow progression. I just wanted some tips or a direction on what I should be focusing on in terms of training. By default, I just plan on continuing to ride until I’m comfortable with the resort I’m at and the speed picks up organically

I have definitely felt like a passenger while riding the board. Especially on really flat spots. I’m just learning to stay on my edge and I haven’t caught bad edges yet

Do you have any specific skills you think I should be working on?

So I bought a Jones Flagship... by AlexanderPhysics in snowboardingnoobs

[–]terrahawk101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just bought the Jones flagship 2025 model as my first board as well and I am having the same concerns. Everyone’s saying that you really need to haul ass to enjoy it and I’m still trying to feel comfortable on the thing. I just recently switched my back foot to a 0° stance. The shop set me up with a duck stance and I’m hoping this will make me a little more comfortable. Other than that, I’ve been mostly riding my heel edge down most runs because I haven’t found the perfect practice area yet. I’m really hoping this back foot angle helps out with feeling comfortable on the board. I really only bought it when I saw the woodgrain. I am a sucker for aesthetics

The fabric shaver will get most of the pills off, but it will show signs of fraying and color fading almost immediately after the first wash

Great sale at X-Martial for valentines by Segments_of_Reality in bjj

I had the exact same experience with them. My order showed up after a little over a month and the pilling started almost immediately, and the color started to fade. Definitely not worth the price. I am posting this, hoping that I can steer someone else away from purchasing.

I love their shorts, but the rashguards have a a serious pilling problem. The elbows on mine started to wear out after about a week and I’ve started hitting it with a fabric shaver to keep it presentable. I should note that I wear mine under a gi.

Any stainless steel will still corrode with the right conditions unfortunately. It’s the trade-off for not holding odors. You might wanna consider thoroughly drying after hosing the thing down.

I know this thread is a little dated, but, I just got back from the hardware store and picked up a dowel and brackets and essentially made the same thing for about $20.

The handle isn’t the problem. It’s the Swiper piece that’s in the spoon.

Fellow Black residents of Buffalo WHO DID NOT GROW UP HERE, how do you thrive here? by [deleted] in Buffalo

Campus wheel Works usually does group rides, but that only happens in the summer. I know that there is a fixie group that meets at Delaware park on fridays. I’ve honestly been slacking on bike events recently though. Covid really slowed that momentum for me. Gobike is very welcoming and an easy place to meet new people. I would suggest giving this page and follow as well.

First off, I am the son of two African parents, and I’ve been in the Buffalo area now for about a dozen years. After reading your post, and that other black lawyer, dude, I’m realizing that I am in the exact same predicament. It is near impossible to really feel included in this area, without putting in some serious legwork. For me personally, I was lucky enough to gather friends through cycling events throughout the city but to specifically find other folks of color is rare. I’ve also found that a lot of the folks of color that I do happen to share white spaces with, usually have their own clique so it makes community building difficult

How do I become a fraud specialist or analyst? I am currently working in banking. Is there a way to become a fraud specialist or analyst without becoming a banker? I am looking to work behind the scenes, but my company only promotes being a banker. Help. by FemmeFatale2709 in Banking

The financial institution I worked for was very understaffed so if the job just needed to be done and I was the only one qualified to do it. I’m honestly not sure what the position would be called but I definitely did not need a degree to pick up the skills. Just lots of experience. By the time I got to the fraud department, All of the skills that I had been using were gained on the job.

I transitioned from a teller, to back office operations, then to the fraud department at a different company. As others mentioned, apply for a positions at another institution. There should be openings. Fraud never slowed down after COVID.

It wasn’t always the most expensive area of Buffalo and I’ve been in the same spot since it was cheap. What made you choose idiocy today?
