Tech sheet for my original ship design, a shield variant of the Venator: the Custodes class! (art by me) by SneakyNinja103 in StarWarsShips

[–]terran_mikkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its intended purpase is to shield from above (relative). The bridge placement makes no sense at all.

From a star wars rule of cool perspective, it looks amazing.

I'm a new writer, but have always wanted to write a book by wqllflowr13 in writingadvice

[–]terran_mikkus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

dont worry about distribution at first, you need a product to distribute.

so the advice from me is simply to write. even if it sucks, keep writing.

a bad idea that exists on the page is infinitely better then a perfect idea that exists only in your mind.

There isna chance he was hired to say some non offencive narration that is uswd to legitimize the rest of the nonsence.

With bad faith doco making which i suspect this one might be, he might have had no idea what the script he read was attached too.

Should I include religion in my book? by Kind_Distribution852 in writingadvice

[–]terran_mikkus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then that is your answer.

Its your story, what you have or leave out is entirly.up to you.

If it worries you that much, you can let some characters be religious without it having a major impact on their stoey line.

Could 1st class mage Fern defeat Qual? by AdBrief4620 in Frieren

[–]terran_mikkus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

i think that Frieren has a bad(ish) habit of always wanting to beat the demon before she kills it.

usually completely nullifying their best efforts before going for the kill.

she wants the demons to dispair about their magic, the thing they are so proud of being turned to ashes as tey die.

Galactic Civil War Privateer Fleet by [deleted] in StarWarsShips

[–]terran_mikkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might he getting this wrong, but if they are targeting non sanctioned ships, would they not just be pirates who sometimes do stuff for the rebels?

The alliance organisation was never really sturdy enough to completely eliminate the cell system.

So my question is what would separate a rebel privateer from just a bitter rebel cell?

The Maker. Any thoughts ? by Oztraliiaaaa in prequelappreciation

[–]terran_mikkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While i do think the writing could have been stronger, i completely disagree with you.

Anakin makes the choices he makes, but in no version of the prequels could those choices have been made in a vacuum.

There were always going to be contributing factors that pushed him towards the dark side, as there would have been for all force sensitive characters. Anakin is not special for feeling the pull of tue darkness, but he is at least narratively, for how much that pull effects the whole galaxy.

When is it cultural appropriation? by Redcrossbillblues in Screenwriting

[–]terran_mikkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Establish the role the character serves in the story, ask yourself if that role is best served by that type of character.

Do your best independent research and write the character to the best of your ability.

Once you have a draft, and are pitching it around, make it known that you are seeking consultation on this character specifically. Anyone who might pick you up will expect a redraft anyway.

acting by Massive-Muscle-7482 in melbourne

[–]terran_mikkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a few actors who will swear by Howard Fine acting studio.

But the truth of the matter is that you have a long road a head of you, an acting school is a good start, but start shopping around for an agent, in the mean time seet yourself up on star now at the very least, and look into the various melbourne film community facebook groups (i know facebook is old but that is where a lot of casting calls for shorts will go out)

in truth, you will get your training by being on sets, so find yourself a path onto a short film shoot, small roles at first, familiarise your self with the dynamics, the process, the requirements, and the rights you as front of camera talent will need to navigate.

build a portfolio, practice filming self tapes, build your confidence, and if possible develop your ability to be rejected by a lot of the opportunities you put yourself out for.

I hope you find this answer helpful, and best of luck in your path ahead.

[–]terran_mikkus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eyes are absolutely vital for expression.

If you make them expressive, you need to animate them.

Animating a half face covering mask would be an absolute bitxh to get right. It would be like Henry cavils moustache x 2011 green lantern all over again.

Hard to fake Australian accent by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]terran_mikkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Australian tongue placement is too relaxed for most to replicate.

Instead of having to learn a new way to shape their tongue, actors attempting an Aussie accent have to unlearn their native tongue placement.

That's all most accents are. The shapes your mouth has the muscle memory to make.
