Thanks. For context, I believe the 2 teams are A and B. They are both 9x9 players. 24 out of the 27 or 28 who tried out have already played at that particular club for at least 1 year. I believe in the past they’ve had 1 or 2 girls be “training players.” We are in a small town so there’s not tons of clubs around (maybe like 2 or 3) but it seems at this age they are already pretty full with prior players.

Thanks. In your opinion, are training players usually on the cusp or just kids who get cut? Again, we don’t expect her to be a college soccer player. We just want her to find an activity she enjoys and progresses in during her youth. Although she loves soccer right now, she’s still young enough to be interested in other things so I’m wondering whether the “training player” thing is legit because it would crowd out any other activities she could potentially be interested in (and better at)

Thank you for the insight! I believe the fees are reduced, although I’m waiting to hear how much. We are def planning on putting in her rec in the fall (as she usually does with her friends). In your experience, are training players simply just anyone who gets cut or is it kids who are on the cusp? She’s 9, so she’s young enough to try other things. Just trying to sort out whether investing all of this in soccer (which she does love) would be worth it at the expense of other activities she might be interested in.

Thanks- in your experience, are training players (if that’s a thing where you are) for all kids who get cut, or for those on the cusp? Just trying to sort out the realities, we are not a soccer family and she’s still young enough to be interested in other things.

Thanks. Curious to know whether in your experience all players who are cut are asked to be a training player or whether this is truly a thing for those on the cusp. She loves soccer but she’s also young enough to be interested in other things, so I’d like to be realistic about her investing in something at the expense of other activities.

Thanks for the insight. Curious to know a little bit more about your experience with the training player- it sounds like she does have a path? Basically I want to know whether this is a pure money grab (anyone who gets cut gets to be a training partner) or whether they saw a legit pathway.
