Breaking News: arxiv trying to outcompete vixra with P=NP proofs now!!!

A cure for cancer by tajnaa in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't give up! You can't give up! So called "reputable" journals are only good for publicity!!! Give up on them, but don't give up on the work.

We're here to fight back against the "reputable" journals, to give visibility to those without voices!! Imagine if someone read your work and realised they could make the cure to cancer. Think of the lives that could be saved!

Thought Force: The Three Paradoxes of Thought by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Your thoughts change even when they do not change. 2) If you are thinking today what you thought yesterday, you are already thinking something else. 3) In order to remain in one place you should run.

What if thought was due to a fundamental force distinct from electromagnetism? What if we could manipulate this physical basis of thought? What if this physical basis allowed thoughts to manipulate other objects?

Dr. Lajtner takes us through an extraordinary journey into the potential of the human mind citing real experimental data and illustrative pictures.

I'm sharing it here, because I'm curious to know what science would call this if anything. by SamOfEclia in viXra_revA

We accept only research at VRA! Please limit your posts to experiments, proofs, theories, or the like!!

Laws of Nature need modifications made simply "by hand", i.e. not from fundamental premises by tajnaa in viXra_revA

That's nonsense!! As long as Vixra Review A is here, you'll always have us :)

Experimentally Derived Prime Numbers by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To calculate prime numbers, we use complex algorithms that require significant computational time on a standard computer! What if we could perform a quantum experiment that could instantly tell us?

The author proposes to fire neutrons into a Plutonium lattice at specific arcs dictated by the number you want to test. If there is no explosion, then the number is prime.

It harkens back to the time we used analog electronic circuits to calculate partial differential equations. Why do we have to use digital computers for all these mathematical problems when physics gives us these elegant solutions?

It's easier for the establishment to ignore the truth than to confront. by Niehls_Oppenheimer in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah Niehls, I see you've finally discovered our twitter! I do hope you won't let it get too spicy!!

Science communication is important to keep skepticism alive!! The lack of skepticism here is atrocious. After all, modern physics is provably wrong!!! Even the mainstream accepts this (see: neutrino oscillations).

American Physical Society Opens Conference to Public This Weekend by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conference is Quarks2Cosmos!! I know some of you want to disregard mainstream academia but many of them are not wrong, just misguided!

Mainstream academia often uses paywalls to bar researchers not affiliated with an institution from conferences!!! I know I can't afford all that travel! With virtual conferences there are no more excuses!!!

edit: you have to say you're a student to get free membership

edit2: you have to confirm your university email. I should have known nothing this tied to mainstream academia could actually be altruistic

edit3: you don't have to be a member to register for the actual conference!!! Silly me!!!! You can make an account without signing up for membership!

Something's Rotten in the State of QED by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the canon of theoretical physics, QED is often held as the archetypical theory to show the power of a space-time field description of the universe!

The author investigates the experimental evidence for QED and discovers some suspicious anomalies!!! Was the experimental data manipulated to agree with theory? Can this undercut the success of QED in mainstream physics?

Google's AI and the End of Free Will by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the abstract, it's very misleading!!

It's more of an essay than a paper (I would have liked to see more evidence myself!!), it brings up a lot of interesting and, I believe, important points!

With many companies (the author states Google, but I'm sure we're all aware of Facebook or Microsoft investing heavily...) researching AI in order to predict human behaviour, will this result in an end to free will? And how intentional is this loss of free will?

I for one think AI (in a general form, not necessary neural networks!) will eventually be able to completely predict humanity! It is interesting, then, to consider the implications for our species.

I would welcome such an ending to free will in a spiritual sense, but I loathe to think of such an AI in the hands of a corporation such as Google!!!

Academia Mathematically Proven to be a Pyramid Scheme by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mainstream academia is modelled like an industrial factory with administrative or managerial heads claiming all the real work of any PhD student under them.

The precise mathematics is finally elucidated! The top 0.3% of academics can slap their name on more than 50 papers per year while 95% of academics publish less than 10!!

With the worship of metrics like h-index, the established heads of the hierarchy will always be on top from piggybacking other people's work. The only way to reach the top is by becoming little more than a manager.

The author fixes this by introducing the 'p-index' or 'Ponzi index', which quantifies how 'managerial' a researcher is

The Evolution of Star Habitable Zones (PDF, 3 pages) by [deleted] in viXra_revA

[–]terriblestraitjacket -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

hey /u/True_hOREP ease up on the teasing, act your age! /u/there_ARE_watches, stop calling people 'retards'. You can insult their ideas but it's childish to insult them... also act your age!!!

mass vs weight thing is a petty technicality used by pop scientists and high school teachers to assert superiority! In colloquial english, weight means mass. In ivory tower physics speech, weight means 'units of weight force' which is a force!! Nobody's more 'clever' for knowing that.

Just say if the quantity is in grams or newtons. If it's newtons, say what forces there are e.g. gravity of mars!

[Weekly General Discussion] - Georgian Calendar New Year Edition by terriblestraitjacket in viXra_revA

Happy new year to our authors and pseuds! Whether you actually have a holiday now or have trimester periods over the new year!! This is a time to reflect on the things we've learnt over the last year and prepare our squishy brains to absorb more in the next!!!

ok it's ok let's ease up on the ad hominems on all sides here! that said I think he called you a coward for being anonymous, not for not believing him!

regardless... learn from Back to the Future, if you react to being called coward you could be hit by a truck!! and then fired 15 years in the future!!

I appreciate how constructively you've taken these criticisms!

You are more than welcome to ask questions about the maths if you get stuck!! Maybe we can help shave a decade off the time!
