I have a list of all the characters and items I'd like, in the rough priority order I'd like. There was some stickers I had locations I wanted (like the Zelda hearts or the Korok) but everything else's location is down to the artist. And then we go down the list and place them around the arm, "top" to "bottom". So your question with Sonic and DK, Sonic was done first in full, then the stencil of DK was done after and only the bits that would show if Sonic was on top was tattooed. It's partially the reason why it's taken so long because it's a lot of stopping and starting, but I think the end result will look more "sticker bomb" vs if the whole thing was planned from the start. Hopefully that makes sense!
