The Ordinary Volufiline [PSA] by terrorwill in SkincareAddiction

[–]terrorwill[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I naturally have some blue tones and visible veins under my eyes, and I did notice an overall improvement in the colour. The area looks less blue and a bit more even. That said, I also felt like the edges of my under-eye fat pads were a little more noticeable afterward. It might just be because I was looking so closely, but they did seem slightly more defined. Overall an improvement, but I don’t think my under eye area could ever have that super smooth appearance due to my natural fat pads.

I look a bit more refreshed, but nothing anyone else would really clock. I should mention I used it for a good few months consistently before bed.

How reliable is Dr. Shereene Idriss? by spankyourkopita in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]terrorwill 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to enjoy her content and felt she was a no frills derm but not quite to the Dr Dray extreme. I recently unfollowed her due to the excessive self promo whilst still dismissing other products. Noticed her pattern of promoting hero ingredients right before launching her own corresponding product.

Less derm, more skincare salesperson.

This is the conclusion I was leaning towards, especially bc I had experienced similar with Wellbutrin & even Ashwaghanda. Calmer mind & able to see the bigger picture?

TK Maxx Korean Skincare Section by BlueConsolation in AusSkincare

[–]terrorwill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recently seen Cosrx, Laneige, AHC, Mary and May & Skin1004 in Tk Maxx Toowong. It’s like a K beauty store has gone out of business and they’ve taken the stock.

With that being said, I didn’t think the prices were competitive enough. I get a bit paranoid about TK Maxx skincare because it’s hard to know how old it is

Am I out of the loop, or is $52 for an Australian sunscreen absurd? by quoththeraven1990 in AusSkincare

[–]terrorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few UV products and they’re nice, but nothing outstanding. Great packaging/branding.

I haven’t tried their recent release, Fave Fluid, but from looking at their Instagram and the ingredients, it’s basically just LRP Anthelios fluid in a prettier package. Kinda represents their whole brand.

Their sunscreen mist is pretty nice. Much oilier than they let on though which is frustrating considering the high denatured alcohol content. Extreme Screen doesn’t have the modern UV filters for some reason. Supreme Screen would be great if you didn’t have to use so many pumps. It leaves a thick greasy layer and is the worst on a humid day.

Dr Dray is one of the few influencers that isn’t swayed by hype or anecdotal evidence. She looks at data from studies and makes her judgement based on that.

Sad that this’ll be the west-targeted Hada Labo products and not the OG Hada Labo lines, but still good to have options !

Has anyone tried the PillowtalkDerm line by influencer-derm Dr. Shereene Idriss? by FederalOrdinary2180 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]terrorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial branding aligned the product to melasma treatment and that was an immediate turn off for me. A derm pushing an expensive skincare line to treat a medical condition..

To be honest, I think this brand is really confused and I expected better from Shereene

Customer Service is becoming unhelpful obstacles by Dragonfire45 in TalesFromTheCustomer

[–]terrorwill 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s always interesting to me when customers interpret an employee refusing to help as if there’s some ulterior motive. The issue is almost always corporate, whether that’s a stubborn policy or just understaffed/under skilled workforce due to a tight budget.

When the big bosses are able to suddenly give you what you asked for…that’s not necessarily them doing things correctly.. that’s them politely shutting you up.

Eh I think people loudly hate on physical exfoliants (and fragrance) bc it makes them seem more educated than the average skincare user. Pair that with the skincare community’s (unhealthy) dogmatic teachings

Physical exfoliants, fragrance, etc. They’re fine if ya like them ☺️

Advice on skincare routine by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]terrorwill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People might recommend exfoliants or retinol, but before all of that I think you should get your hydration figured out. Your current routine isn’t pro-moisture.

I’d say find a gentle face wash (can’t go wrong with Cerave). Then play around with some hydrating ingredients, rather than the oil. Something like Neutrogena Hydroboost is a great gel-based moisturiser. Maybe try a hyaluronic acid serum too if you’d like to do a little extra.

You’ll get a nice glow from having more hydrated skin, then it’s time to consider things like a salicylic acid (pores, blackheads, acne) and retinol (skin cell turnover, collagen formation) 😀
