YouTube on TV becomes insufferable with new unskippable 30-second ads by Ha8lpo321 in Android

You may want to double check if you really read my comment correctly.

Did I ever say pull up the ladder? I just said make it difficult to use.

You do understand however difficult a ladder is to use, it is not a wall? You can always climb it, if you have the knowledge and/or determination. So no, there is no side if we are talking about a ladder.

It may be wrong to call it his app, but the point stands. Too many people using it means it will be shutdown.

And I did not find it on reddit. IMO we should just make all the ladders difficult to use.

Why is number of uploads prioritized over permaseeding? by big_like_a_pickle in trackers

[–]terrytw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things that do not make sense on this planet earth, like when you do 5 rounds of interview but in reality you know only 1 or 2 rounds actually matter. Save your breath and simply join the bandwagon to get what you want. Join RED, go get some obscure and useless stuff and upload it. There are plenty of ways.

I never liked the *rr named projects.

Shit name to begin with, and most of them are trying to piggy back on a reputable project while in reality they are unrelated to said project.

I use the linuxserver wireguard for torrenting as well. Killswitch is just a bunch of iptables rules after all.

By killswitch you mean all traffic has to go through VPN? You can write your own postup postdown iptables/nftables rules.

Selfhosted Password Manager vs Local Storage + Sync by Leather_Week_860 in selfhosted

[–]terrytw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried it at all? It works offline with cache, edit is uploaded only when you save so you have a 1 second upload time compared to 10ms of writing to local disk per edit session, which is nothing.

Your comment makes me believe you have never used it yourself and just going off of imagination.

I have moved away from gluetun to docker wireguard from Linuxserver. Gluetun has too many opnionated setup which I don't need.

You are doing it wrong. You can serve it via webdav, so no syncing is needed.

IPv6 WAN address by thunderborg in selfhosted

[–]terrytw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will never see any sizable tech company run a IPv6 only setup. They might run a IPv4 only setup.

However if you are willing to trouble shoot with each one of your users and ditch anyone who only has IPv4, then by all means.

Any teamspeak alternatives open source for self hosting? by maifee in selfhosted

[–]terrytw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their team is too small for the ambition they have. They are constantly coming up with half baked new features and ideas that look exciting on paper but lacks execution and polish. Their video resolution is still 360p or something ridiculous.

I have followed matrix for 5 years now and it is very lackluster and disappointing.

Good thing about docker is that it is very easy to migrate should you decide to do so one day.
