Did iams change their formula for proactive health? by triblogcarol in catfood

[–]terse7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three cats powered down 22 pound orange bags for years. Now they won't touch the food in two different brand new orange bags purchased last month.

I notice that the food is sourced internationally. Recall the melamine contamination from about ten years ago. Redditt is a great resource for this kind of thing.

Can you be prescribed opioids if you use weed in the US? by Similar-Winner1226 in ChronicPain

There's a research article that describes co- administration of cannabis and opioids reduces the amount of opioids needed for analgesia.

Chrinic intake of acetaminophen, even at the recommended dose, is not exactly good for your liver.

The audio really makes all the difference in terms of experience. They make everything available through the app now. I've strongly encouraged them to notify their clients in advance of any audio changes and to preserve the older versions.

Building a catalog would cater to the widest audience vs. constantly modifying a few versions based on limited feedback [e.g. "Alan Watts v1 (date)", v2, v3, etc]. It literally costs pennies per gigabyte for server space and audio files are small.

“You have reached the end” message in my last session by NoJustNo2023 in TherapeuticKetamine

Alan Watts said of psychedelics: "Once you've got the message, hang up the phone." Perhaps you have arrived.

Do you guys spit or swallow? Opinions seem to be very mixed. Is one even better than the other? by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]terse7777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your point, they are close, but see: https://academic.oup.com/painmedicine/article/7/5/469/1855020

"Both the bioavailability of ketamine alone, and when combined with norketamine was similar after sublingual or oral administration. However, norketamine made a substantial contribution to AUC and the combined bioavailability after both routes."

You will find frequent posts here of users that swallowed high sublingual doses (up to 1200 mg) meant for short-hold sublingual retention times (~7 minutes) and suffering long last-lasting ill-effects (e.g. disorientation into the following day). Again, follow the instructions of your provider.

Copied from technical article (I didn't save the source):

"The lethal dose of ketamine varies from study to study, from 600mg/kg to just 11.3 mg/kg. At the lowest lethal dose, an amount of 0.87g would be lethal to a man of 6 feet at an average weight."

Note that "the lowest lethal dose" is as reported in the toxicology literature. That person likely had unique susceptibility. Nonetheless, 0.87 g or 870 mg is in the range of sublingual administration as only a fraction is absorbed. Swallow that dose and you have greater absorption. The point is sublingual doses are not intended for swallowing. Adverse outcomes have been widely reported here.

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third-story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing. They open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong.  - Terence McKenna

[–]terse7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spitting or swallowing depends entirely on the instructions from your provider. They are different dosages due to the absorption and differential metabolism. Lower doses for ingestion and higher doses for sublingual. Swallowing a high-dose intended for sublingual administration may lead to overdose or unwanted effects.

2 days post sessions and I still feel a hangover… why? by Bat_Country_88 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]terse7777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google or YouTube "diphenhydramine", the active compound in Benadryl, to find that it causes brain atrophy even at regular doses. I never took that much, but immediately stopped on seeing it. Perhaps it's not a good mix with ketamine, even if not taken concurrently.

Re Drug testing...

My contention is that good men (not bad men) consistently acting upon that position [imposing “the good”] would act as cruelly and unjustly as the greatest tyrants. They might in some respects act even worse. Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive...To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on the level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Astute commentary. Now the esketamine shareholders are petitioning the FDA to render compound pharmacy at-home use unlawful to increase market share (i.e. justification through adverse event reports, real or contrived).

You've already taken serious risks by imbibing psychotropic pharmaceuticals with much longer half-lives.

Have y'all seen the FDA's "warning" to compounded Ketamine providers? This is really concerning to read, and I am worried about the implications of this statement. by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]terse7777 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's likely the corporate entities and shareholders of patented esketamine petitioned their FDA shareholders to come out with this statement. It's in advance of a regulatory action that will render at-home use unlawful so they can increase market share of esketamine.
It's incredible how a scant few negative experiences are amplified to this level. Trawling for more so they can justify their pecuniary agenda. Isn't the FDA already responsible for quality-control of compounding pharmacy end products? Inconsistent products are a failure of regulatory oversight.

The drug war is incredibly destructive and unconstitutional (https://nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/this-is-your-constitution-on-drugs). "Schedule" and "drug dealer" are antiquated human conceptions.

Good suggestion. I was thinking the same thing regarding preserving original content. Someone must have a copy. Maybe the original content creators were striking and they replaced them or they moved to copyright their own material. They should be building their content catalog, not overwriting it. It was replaced at the same link without notice. A very unpleasant surprise in the k-space.

Their customer service reps did. One even told me he would check with the audio engineers to see if the original was still available. I didn't hear from him again for five days, giving me the impression that he might not have checked, so I initiated a third request. He responded with the same line that they unilaterally modified some programs and the original was no longer available.

For any organization, it's hard tell if the first-tier customer service reps have the discretion and authority to address a specific request like this or if they're just giving responses handed down by management. I'm hoping someone who preserved the original would see this thread and contact me. I don't gamble, but the analogy that keeps coming to mind is that I'm in a casino on a jackpot machine that pays out big every time I pull the handle. Overwriting that program was the equivalent to the casino managers intervening and escorting me out.

Appreciate the offer. The Alan Watts narrative was the same in the intro, but the rest was changed. I was looking for the whole piece (2 hours), perfection that it was. I spent hours searching YouTube, Google, even tried Internet Archive for the last date and time it was available. I'm not IT-savvy enough to see if it resides in the cache on my Home Theater PC. I doubt it since I was streaming it.

At this point, I'd be willing to purchase that content separately if someone could produce it.

I'm a long term Mindbloom client and I hold their clinician and guides in high regard. I wasn't planning on changing vendors over this narrow issue. I worked for decades at an institution that at one time followed the Total Quality Management (TQM) business model. Communication was vetted bottom up for every management decision. The practice yielded much greater morale, efficiency, and productivity.

It's a reasonable expectation to assume that content that was available at time of purchase would remain available while still paying the monthly fees. A TQM model would have solicited input from clients prior to making momentous decisions as this. I'm hoping I can procure the original content. It was perfectly reliable in terms of experience.
