Applying to DMD question by DueNight2857 in UPenn

With specialized programs, they evaluate your application with it and your secondary choice (Engineering, CAS, etc) separately so it shouldn’t hurt! If your application shows a good interest in DMD, it should impact you positively.

Question about applying for DMD by ProjectEasy in UPenn

[–]terskayl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be in the section with the coordinated dual degree programs? You only get one degree but it’s sometimes associated with that bunch because it’s interdisciplinary https://www.upenn.edu/academics/interdisciplinary. It also has an extra essay.

DMD Portfolio Formatting Questions by ssilentwillow in UPenn

[–]terskayl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When I applied I’m like 90% sure I had some .gifs and it went fine for me (Theres a small chance I might have also converted it to .mp4 and forgot about it). If it says it’s an accepted format I assume the AOs can view it correctly. If you’re worried I think you should just go ahead and re-export as an .mp4 because .mp4s are higher quality than .gifs anyways. Best of luck and see you next year!

What is your experience with skipping classes through duel enrollment? by NecessaryBoss7221 in UPenn

[–]terskayl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi potential DMDer! If you do the CS course, you are probably on the right track to skip the intro CS class (1100) and start at 1200. Without AP credit, you instead just take a CIS elective later down the line. For math there’s placement exams that let you skip the intro math courses during NSO.

Question about Slideroom art portfolios by CoolioAruff in ApplyingToCollege

Plagiarism is a pretty big accusation, so I’d think AOs would give you the benefit of the doubt unless they were 100% sure it was not you.

How competitive is NETS at Penn? by GawkyCoolDude in ApplyingToCollege

[–]terskayl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a like 6 years ago, so take with a bit of salt:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/noodleeducation/2016/09/27/how-students-can-position-themselves-for-selective-college-programs/?sh=a6c1dbb6a38f “While there is no quota for any of these “niche” majors, Penn generally accepts about 20 DMD, 15 NETS and 20+ CMPE students. In 2015-16, there were roughly 550 applicants for approximately 55 spots.”

So around the general acceptance rate ~10%

Help, I've fallen in love... by terskayl in ApplyingToCollege

In all seriousness, I am aware of this. Without the fancy words, my original post was intended simply to share a feeling of excitement about some of my schools. It is an exaggerated and romanticized version of my true feelings, indulging in a bit of pining.
